Slow moderation in temperatures and wind this Monday!

Temperatures this morning are mainly in the mid-teens and winds have diminished somewhat from last night, yesterday evening was especially harsh with the winds gusting to 40MPH and temperatures in the teens, wind chills were well below zero. Plenty of sunshine today with further diminishing winds will make today feel considerably better than yesterday although high temperatures in the 30s are still below normal for this time of year.
On Tuesday a frontal system will cause precipitation in the afternoon but with a southerly flow setting up all that falls will be in the form of rain with temperatures rising well up into the 40s.
This warm up will be short lived as the air behind the front is cold and the winds will increase for Wednesday and Thursday but it would be as brutal as yesterday. and the days will feature plenty of sunshine.
The next chance of precipitation will be Friday night and Saturday, the computer models are not in agreement so it is hard to forecast details but as of now it appears that the precipitation will start off as snow and then change to rain as temperatures rise into the 40s. Dry with slightly above normal temperatures on Sunday .

The forecast: Today – Sunny with diminishing winds, high in the mid 30s.
Tonight – Partly cloudy, not as cold as last night, low in the mid 20s.
Tuesday – Becoming cloudy with rain showers from the afternoon into the evening, high in the upper 40s.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 30s.
Thursday – Sunny, high in the mid 30s.
Friday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow toward evening, high near 40.
Saturday – Chance of snow changing to rain, mostly cloudy, high in the low 40s.
Sunday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 40s.

Marine Forecast: Small craft advisory till noon today, northwest winds to 30 knots diminishing, seas 6 feet this morning lowering this afternoon to 4 feet..
Outlook – Small craft advisories likely will be needed from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday.

Have a great Presidents’ Day!

Cold and windy Sunday!

Temperatures this morning are in the mid 20s but with a gusty wind it feels much colder. It will not get much better during the day today as we will have a hard time reaching the freezing mark and with wind gusts to 40MPH it will feel more like the teens all day long. At least we didn’t get any snow as the storm was far enough offshore, it did give Eastern Long Island up to 5 inches of the white stuff. The cold extends all the way to Southern Florida this morning as it is only 40 degrees in Rotunda Beach.
Tonight it will stay windy and with temperatures falling to the mid-teens the wind chill will be around zero.
Moderating temperatures by Monday afternoon. The next chance of precipitation will be on Tuesday most of it falling as rain as readings will rise into the 40s but there is a chance of some snow if the precipitation starts early enough on Tuesday morning inland. Colder weather for Wednesday and Thursday. Another chance of rain or snow on Friday. A little milder next weekend.

The forecast: Today – Partly sunny, windy, gusts to 40MPH, highs in the low 30s.
Tonight – Mostly clear and windy, low in the mid-teens.

Tuesday – Cloudy with rain likely by the afternoon, may start out as a mix of snow inland, high in the mid 40s.
Wednesday – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 30s.
Thursday – Sunny, high in the upper 30s.
Friday – Chance of rain or snow, high near 40.
Saturday – Chance of morning rain or snow then clearing, high in the low 40s.

Marine Forecast: – Gale warning till 7AM on Monday, northwest winds gusting up to 40 knots, seas up to 8 feet.
Outlook – Conditions briefly drop below advisory levels Monday night and only last till Tuesday morning then advisories likely from Tuesday night through Thursday.

Have a good day!

Sunday will be very cold with high temperatures barely reaching the freezing mark and with strong gusty winds the wind chills will be in the teens. Plenty of sunshine on Monday will moderate temperatures in the afternoon after a frigid morning.
