Unseasonably warm December weather to continue through the weekend with some record highs likely! Showers on Monday!

Skies are mostly clear early this Friday morning although there is some patchy fog in some areas, temperatures range from the low 40s here in Clifton to the low 30s in the colder inland valleys, winds are nearly calm.

A high pressure ridge over the area will cause the unseasonably warm December weather to continue today through the weekend with dry conditions and temperatures reaching the 60s each day, some record highs are likely.  Yesterday my 43 year Clifton record was tied at 61 degrees, today’s record is 60 set back in 1979 and we should break that.

A cold front will be moving into the area on Monday which will likely produce showers, temperatures again will reach the 60s.

Following the cold front it will be only slight cooler with highs well up into the 50s on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

We should see a decrease in clouds by later this morning and with sunshine temperatures will rise well up into the 50s today, winds will be light

Dry and even warmer Friday through the weekend with highs near record levels as a high pressure ridge builds over the area, wind will be light and it will feel very comfortable with readings more like the end of April rather than the middle of December.

A cold front will cross the area on Monday likely accompanied by some afternoon and evening showers, temperatures will continue to be quite mild ahead of the front.

We have mostly clear skies early on this Monday morning and  temperatures are ranging from the mid 30s here in Clifton to the low 20s in some of the colder inland spots, winds are nearly calm.  Just like yesterday morning there is some fog in  some inland areas that may cause some black ice on the roads in those spots.

Slightly cooler but still dry on Tuesday as a low pressure moves well offshore.

It now appears that dry weather will continue through the week into the weekend with a warming trend and by the weekend we may see some high temperatures in the 60s.

On this day in 1998 we had a record high temperature of 74 degrees while in 2003 we had a foot of snow on the ground.
