Skies are clear early on this Friday morning and it is cool once again with temperatures ranging from around 50 here in Clifton to as low as 40 in the colder inland areas, winds are light.

Today high pressure will be over the area producing plenty of sunshine, temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than on Thursday and with less wind it will be a nice late spring day.

Saturday’s weather is a bit unsettled as a warm front will be approaching the area followed by a cold front moving through Saturday night, it will be warmer and more humid and there is a 40 to 50 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, some of these storms may be quite strong with gusty winds and small hail.  These storms if they occur will be quick movers so the day will not be a complete washout.

Sunday will be less humid and warm with again plenty of sunshine but it will become windy.

At this time next week looks to be mainly dry with near seasonable temperatures.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are quite cool with readings ranging from around 50 here in Clifton to the low 40s in some of the colder inland areas, winds are light and the humidity is low.    Yesterday I recorded .34 inches of rain with afternoon temperatures falling into the chilly low 50s.

High pressure building into the area will give us plenty of sunshine today but there will still be a brisk wind, temperatures with the strong June sunshine should rise into the mid 70s.

Sunny conditions on Friday with less wind and temperature a couple of degrees higher than today.

The weekend looks mainly dry but a cold front may touch off some showers and thunderstorms Saturday evening.   Sunday should be mostly sunny and seasonably warm.

Dry weather is expected Monday through Wednesday, Monday may be a bit breezy otherwise rather nice late spring condition should prevail.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are cooler than the last few mornings ranging from the upper 50s here in Clifton to the upper 40s in some spot further inland, winds are light.

A strong upper air low in our area today will likely cause showers and thunderstorms mostly from around noon to early this afternoon, some storms may be heavy with small hail and strong gusty winds, it will be quite cool with most high temperatures only reaching the upper 60s and with a brisk wind it will feel even cooler.  Tonight will be quite cool with temperatures falling to the 40s in most areas.

Some nice late spring weather is expected for Thursday and Friday with plenty of sunshine and near normal temperatures.

Wednesday will be much cooler and it will be breezy, an upper level low will cause instability in the afternoon with showers and thunderstorms likely.

Skies have become mostly fair early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the mid 60s here in Clifton to around 60 further inland, winds are light.

Today we will have plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures reaching the upper 80s, a good beach day although water temperatures are still only in the low 60s.

A cold front will be crossing the area Tuesday afternoon preceded by some sunshine but also a chance of a shower and thunderstorm, tempertures will continue to be warm.

Much cooler weather expected for Wednesday, there may still be an afternoon shower, it will be breezy and also much less humid.

Dry weather with temperatures slightly below normal Thursday and Friday.

The weekend doesn’t look too bad with near seasonable tempertures, there is a chance of a shower around Saturday evening.  No big storms are expected through the next several days unlike Florida that will be dealing with heavy rain from Tropical Storm Colin.

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from the mid 60s here in Clifton to some upper 50s further inland, winds are nearly calm.  There is an area of rain moving into New Jersey from Eastern Pennsylvania and another shower across the Hudson Valley.

Showers will move into the area this morning as a weak frontal system moves through, most of the showers should end by this afternoon, with the clouds and showers temperatures will only reach the mid 70s.

On Saturday a weak high pressure system will be in the area, it will be warmer with only a chance of an afternoon showers.  Showers will become more likely at night as a stronger frontal system approaches from the west.

Heavy rain with some strong thunderstorms are likely on Sunday, some of these storms may be severe causing damaging winds in some areas, flash flooding is also possible.

Mainly dry with seasonably warm temperatures Monday through Thursday although an afternoon shower cannot be ruled out especially inland on Monday and Tuesday.

CLIFTON CLIMATE FOR MAY 2016.

The average temperature was 61.7 degrees which was just about average, it was rather chilly for the first 24 days of the month then well above average from the 25th through the end of the month. The highest temperatures was 94 degrees on the 28th and the lowest was 36 degrees on the 16th.

Precipitation totaled 3.85 inches which was slightly below normal.   This was the first time since I started my records in 1973 that we did not have a May thunderstorm.
