SATURDAY  DECEMBER 16, 2017  5:45 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Saturday morning and it is not quite as frigid as yesterday at this time with temperatures ranging from the low 20s in the Clifton area ranging down to the single digits well inland.  Walpack has fallen to 6 degrees.   Winds are light.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sun, a weak cold front passing through may cause some light snow showers mainly over inland areas, little or no accumulation is expected.  Temperatures will rise above freezing which will melt some of the snowpack.

Tomorrow should be partly sunny and seasonably cold .  A weak warm front will give us a chance of some light precipitation late Sunday night in the form of either light snow or freezing rain.

Milder Monday and Tuesday and we should remain dry.

Seasonably cold and dry Wednesday and Thursday.,

Milder on Friday with a chance of showers.

FRIDAY  DECEMBER 15, 2017  5:56 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and it is quite cold with temperatures ranging from the upper teens in the Clifton area down to the single digits further inland, the lowest reading at this time is a frigid 2 degrees at Walpack,  winds are mainly calm.

Today will start off partly sunny but remain very cold, as a weak low pressure develops our area will likely see light snow develop around 4 pm, and end around 8 p.m, accumulations should be around an inch but even with these low amounts it could still affect this evening’s commute.

Weak high pressure will be with us this weekend, temperatures will moderate to near normal.  A weak warm front may cause some precipitation late Sunday night into early Monday, with light snow changing to rain.

Milder Monday and Tuesday with mainly dry conditions, high on Tuesday may actually reach the 50 degree mark.

Dry weather with near seasonable temperatures Wednesday and Thursday.

THURSDAY  DECEMBER 14, 2017  5:51 A.M.

Our area has cloudy skies early on this Thursday morning and there is some light snow falling in some spots, temperatures are cold ranging from the low 20s in the Clifton area falling to the mid teens further inland, winds are light.  About an inch of snow has fallen overnight.

The low pressure that is responsible for the snow will move east offshore, periods of light snow will end around 9 or 10 a.m. with another 1/2 inch of accumulation possible.  We should see some clearing this afternoon, temperatures will be chilly.

Mainly dry and cold Friday and Saturday, a low pressure area is expected to move up the coast but too far to our east to give us any precipitation.

Sunday will be dry with slightly moderating temperatures, however a weak system may give us some light snow at night.

Milder weather is expected for most of next week with no big storms anticipated.

WEDNESDAY  DECEMBER 13, 2017  5:53 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures have fallen to the upper teens in the Clifton area down to around 10 further inland, winds that are gusting to 30 mph or more out of the west is bringing wind chill values down to around zero.

Today will be a bitterly cold and windy day, temperatures will be hard pressed to reach the 30 degree mark and with winds gusting to 35 mph will make it feel very uncomfortable.

A weak Alberta clipper will likely give us some light snow tomorrow morning mainly falling between 5 and  10 a.m., accumulations will be less than an inch but it may affect tomorrow morning’s commute.

Dry and cold weather is expected  Thursday afternoon through Saturday.

Another weak disturbance may give us some precipitation Sunday night but at that time temperatures will moderate and that may cause the precipitation to be a mix of rain and snow.

Warmer than normal temperatures are expected Monday through the middle of next week./

TUESDAY  DECEMBER 12, 2017   5:55 A.M.

Our area has cloudy skies early on this Tuesday morning, there are some scattered rain or snow showers across the area mainly inland, temperatures range from the upper 30s in the Clifton area down to around 30 further inland, winds are light.

A low pressure will move through upstate New York today and its associated cold front will cross our area around midday, expect mild conditions ahead of the front along with some rain or snow showers, there should be no accumulation except maybe an inch or two in the Poconos and northwest New Jersey.  The front will be followed by a strong westerly flow of much colder air, temperatures will fall from the 40s today down to near 20 tonight.

Wednesday will be a dry but very cold day, winds will gust to 35 mph or more and with temperatures mostly in the 20s, wind chills will be in the single digits.

Cold weather will continue Thursday and Friday, there will be a slight chance of flurries on Thursday.  On Friday a storm is expected to develop offshore and at this time it is not expected to influence our weather, however the system bears watching in case it comes closer to the coast.

The weekend looks mainly dry, Saturday will be cool with moderating temperatures on Sunday.
