Skies are cloudy and any leftover showers are now moving offshore, temperatures have fallen into the upper 40s in the Clifton area down to the upper 30s further inland, winds are a little brisk out of the west.

The cold front that gave us the showers yesterday has moved to our east, we should see clearing during the day, highs will be around 50 late this morning falling to the low 40s by sunset, winds will be brisk this morning but diminish this afternoon.

Thursday will be a dry with near seasonable temperatures.

A weak disturbance may give us some light snow Friday night , at this time little or no accumulation is expected.

Sunday and Monday should be dry with seasonably cool temperatures.

Another stronger low pressure system may give us rain or snow on Tuesday followed by colder weather for the end of next week.

TUESDAY  DECEMBER 5, 2017  6:03 A.M.

Our area has mainly cloudy skies early on this Tuesday morning and it is quite mild with temperatures ranging from around 50 in the Clifton area down to the low 40s further inland, winds are light.

A strong cold front approaching from the west will give our area a southerly flow of mild and moist air, there will be some scattered showers today with heavier rain showers tonight into early Wednesday, overnight lows will be in the 50s.

The front clears the area by daybreak on Wednesday followed by a westerly flow of colder air, temperatures in the 50s during the morning will drop to the 40s by sunset.

Cold air will be with us Thursday through the weekend, there is a chance of some light snow late Friday and again late Saturday as a couple of weak low pressure disturbance move offshore.

It appears that the colder than normal weather will then persist for at least the next two weeks.  I think there is a better chance this year of a “White Christmas”.

MONDAY  DECEMBER 4, 2017  5:54 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and temperatures are chilly ranging from the low 30s in the Clifton area down to the mid 20s further inland, winds are mainly calm.  In some of the valleys inland there is dense fog and in those areas that are below freezing there may be some patch black ice on some of the roads.

High pressure will give us a mostly sunny day it will become milder.  Overnight tonight we will see an increase in clouds as a warm front approaches, temperatures tonight will not be as chilly as last night.

A strong cold front will move through Tuesday night preceded by a warm southerly flow, showers are likely in the afternoon through early Wednesday morning.  The front will be followed by colder air that should through the weekend.

Our first measurable snow is possible Friday night into Saturday  as a low pressure moves up the coast, the GFS has an inch or two of snow for the area while the European model shows the storm well offshore with no snow for us.

Colder than normal weather should persist most of next week.

Skies are mainly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures range from around 40 in the Clifton area ranging down to the upper 20s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Today will be a mostly cloudy day but temperatures will be a degree or two higher than what was recorded on Saturday, winds will remain light  with high pressure over the area.

More sunshine with mild temperatures on Monday as the high pressure moves offshore.

A strong cold front will give us showers from Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning, temperatures will be mild ahead of the front, expect 1/2 to 1 inch of rainfall.

Colder air moves in late Wednesday through next weekend, there is a storm that is expected to develop on Friday but at this time the low looks to be far enough offshore to give us any rain or snow.

Dry conditions with light winds will continue on Sunday, temperatures will be a little milder than today.

NOVEMBER 2017  CLIFTON CLIMATE SUMMARY.

November temperature was .5 degrees below normal.   Precipitation was well below normal with 1.39″ accumulating;   A trace of snow fell.

The highest temperature was 75 degrees on the 3rd;  lowest temperature was 21 degrees that was recorded on the 11th.   Most daily rain was .57 that fell on the 7th.

METEOROLOGICAL FALL 2017.

Temperatures averaged nearly 3 degrees above normal making this fall the warmest since I started records in 1973.  Precipitation was below normal with 8.6 inches recorded, with about 1/2 of that amount falling on the storm on October 29-30th.
