Skies are cloudy across the area and there are some widely scattered light rain showers , temperatures are mild with readings ranging from the low 40s in Clifton down to the mid 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A weak disturbance may give the area a shower this morning followed by partial clearing this afternoon, temperatures will be near or slightly below normal.

High pressure building into the area on Wednesday giving us mostly sunny skies with chilly temperatures.   An Arctic cold front will cross the area at night possibly accompanied by some snow showers.

Thanksgiving Day will be frigid with highs only in the 20s and lows by Friday morning will drop down to 10-15 degrees in Clifton ranging down to the single digits inland.  Many cold records are likely.

Temperatures will moderate somewhat on Friday but still be well below normal along with mostly sunny skies.

Milder but unsettled weather is expected for the weekend into Monday as a couple of low pressure disturbances move through the area,  the best chance of precipitation will be Saturday night and again on Monday but with the milder air the precipitation should be in the form of rain.

MARINE FORECAST:  A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 1 p.m. this afternoon until 1 a.m. Wednesday morning for northwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions with possible gales Wednesday afternoon through Thanksgiving Day; no advisories expected on Friday; possible small craft conditions again on Friday.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the upper 30s in Clifton, to the low 30s further inland, there is some light rain mixed with snow across the Hudson Valley.

Today will be a mostly cloudy day as a weak front will be in our area, temperatures will be a little milder possibly reaching 50 degrees which is normal for this time of year.

A weak disturbance will move along the front and will likely give us some light rain Tuesday morning that may be mixed with snow well inland.

An Arctic cold front will cross the area Wednesday afternoon or evening possibly accompanied by some snow showers.

Frigid weather for Thanksgiving Day as Arctic air will move into the area, daytime highs will only be in the 20s and overnight lows by Friday morning will be well down in the teens in Clifton to the single digits inland, record lows are likely.

Milder weather for the weekend along with a good chance of rain both days.

Weak high pressure will be moving off the coast and we will have a mainly cloudy day today with seasonably cool temperatures.

A weak disturbance will give us a chance of light rain on Monday.

A somewhat stronger system will likely give us rain mixed with snow Monday night into Tuesday morning, little or no snow accumulation is expected.

An Arctic cold front will come through dry on Wednesday followed by the coldest weather so far this season on Thanksgiving Day.

Slowly moderating temperatures on Friday but it should remain dry.

At this point next weekend will not be as cold but there will be a chance of showers.

Rain is falling over much of the area early on this Friday mornings and temperatures are mainly in the low to mid 30s across the area.  Some of the rain may be coming down as freezing rain well inland.

Yesterday we had our biggest November snowstorm on record as I recorded 6.2″ of snow, my records date back to 1973. In Central Park the 6.0″ recorded there was also a record and their records go back to 1869.   The evening commute home was terrible for many people as the snow came down too heavy for the plows or salters to keep up with clearing the roads before the rush hour started.   For some commuters a 30 minute trip turned out to be four hours or more.

The coastal low responsible for the snow is moving just off the New Jersey coast and will move up to the Canadian maritimes today.  Rain from the storm should end by 9 a.m. and we will see some sunshine this afternoon,  temperatures will rise in the 40s which will help melt some of the storm but it will be windy.

Quiet weather for this weekend as high pressure builds into the area, we should see sunshine on Saturday but be cloudy on Sunday. A weak disturbance will give us a chance of showers Sunday night.

The rest of next week looks to be mainly dry but chilly with Wednesday being the coldest day with highs in the 30s.

After a chilly start on Thanksgiving with readings well down into the 20s temperatures will moderate into the 40s by the afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny.
