Skies have become cloudy early on this Tuesday morning, temperatures are mild with readings ranging from the low 40s in Clifton down to the low 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A weak disturbance along a front to our south will cause some light showers mainly this morning, the afternoon should be dry and mild but it will remain cloudy. Another disturbance may cause some showers again later tonight.

Cooler but staying mostly cloudy to cloudy again on Wednesday, another disturbance will give us a good chance of sleet Wednesday night changing to rain Thursday morning as warmer air moves in, little or no accumulation expected.

Still another low pressure frontal system will give us more rain late Thursday night into Friday morning.

Cooler but dry weather on Saturday but there will be a chance of rain or snow on Sunday.

A warm front will move to our north this morning and we should have mostly sunny skies after early morning cloudiness, temperatures will be unseasonably mild with highs in the 50s.

Still mild on Tuesday but with more clouds and a chance of showers as a cold front approaches and moves through at night.

Cooler and mainly dry during the day on Wednesday but a stronger low pressure system will likely give our area snow after midnight that may accumulate 1-3 inches before changing to rain Thursday morning.

Rain will likely continue into Friday with above normal temperatures.

At this point Saturday looks dry but there will be a chance of snow or rain on Sunday, temperatures will be slightly above normal.

A weak disturbance is causing some rain and snow showers early this morning, after the disturbance moves to our east we should see some sunshine this morning but it will become cloudy again later this afternoon and evening giving our area another chance of snow or rain showers this evening, temperatures will continue to be above normal.

Monday and Tuesday will be mild as high pressure builds into our area, high tempertures will be in the 50s. Monday will be sunny but we should have mostly cloudy skies on Tuesday.

A stretch of precipitation is likely Wednesday through Friday which may be mixed with snow late Wednesday night into Thursday morning as some colder air filters into the area. Overall temperatures will continue to be above normal.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR JANUARY 2020.

The month averaged 7.5 degrees above normal making this the 5th warmest January since 1973. The highest temperature was 68 degrees on the 11th, the lowest temperature was 16 degrees on the 21st. This was only the second time in January in the last 47 years that the temperature never dropped below 15 degrees. Precipitation was below normal with 2.85 inches with the highest amount of rain was 1.58″ recorded on the 25th. Snowfall was also well below normal with 3.3″ accumulating.
