Skies have become cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the upper 40s in Clifton down to the upper 30s further inland, winds are light northeasterly.

A weak area of low pressure will be moving offshore south of the area and this will cause cloudy skies with cool temperatures, some light rain is likely this afternoon and evening.

Weak high pressure will then build into our area on Thursday providing mostly sunny conditions with milder temperatures. A cold front should come through our area at night.

Friday will be a cloudy and cool day with some showers as a weak area of low pressure moves to our south, some of these showers may mix with some snow to our north at west Friday night.

Saturday will be windy and unseasonably cool with highs only reaching around 50.

Somewhat milder on Sunday with sunny skies.

Another weak area of low pressure will move into our area on Monday giving our area a chance of showers followed by a dry Tuesday, temperatures will continue to be below normal.

The latest models are indicating a pattern change with warm weather likely after the middle of this month.

A weak area of high pressure will give us sunny skies today with highs slightly below normal, winds will be a little brisk but not as strong as yesterday.

A weak disturbance will likely give us some showers on Wednesday and with the clouds and precipitation high temperatures will only be in the 50s.

High pressure will then build over the area briefly on Thursday and with partly sunny skies temperatures will be somewhat milder.

A stronger disturbance will likely give us rain Friday afternoon that may mix with snow across higher elevations of the Poconos and extreme northwest New Jersey before ending Friday night.

The weekend will be dry but unseasonably cool along with strong wind gusts.

After having our warmest temperatures since October 2nd today will be much cooler as a cold front came through the area overnight. High temperatures will not rise much and stay in the 60s. Winds will become gusty out of the north by this afternoon. Skies will be partly sunny.

Tonight will become chilly and by this time tomorrow morning temperatures will be about 25 degrees colder than they are now.

Much of this week will be dry and cool with weak disturbances possibly giving us showers Wednesday night into Thursday and again Friday night into Saturday where some higher elevations across northwest New Jersey may see a mixture of snow.

Unseasonably cool weather will continue the rest of the weekend.

A warm front moving through the area this morning is causing the early morning showers but this front will move to our east and we will have some sunshine and warm temperatures with some areas reaching the 80 degree mark. A cold front will cross the area this evening with only some clouds but no rain is expected.

High pressure building into the area will cause cooler temperatures on Monday and it will become breezy.

Cooler than normal weather is expected Tuesday through next weekend with a chance of showers during the day on Thursday and again Friday night, some of the showers Friday night may be mixed with snow across the higher elevations of northwest New Jersey.

High pressure build into our area will cause mostly sunny skies most of the day and temperatures will rise into the 70s, we should see some increase of clouds by late in the day and there is a chance of showers late tonight as a weak warm front moves through the area.

Quite warm on Sunday with partly sunny skies, some areas may reach the 80 degree mark. A weak cold front may cause some light showers late Sunday night.

Most of next week will be dry expect for a slight chance of showers on Wednesday, temperatures will be average cooler than normal.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR APRIL 2020!

April’s average temperature was 48.5 degrees which was 2.8 degrees below normal. The highest temperature was 69 on the 7th (this is the first time that the temperature failed to hit 70 in April since my records began. At Central Park it was the first time it did not reach 70 since 1940) The lowest temperature was 31 degrees on the 17th. Precipitation was above normal with 6.26″ accumulating, the highest daily amount was 2.47″ on the 13th. There was a trace of snow on the 22nd.
