Today will be a milder day with much less wind along with partly sunny skies as high pressure builds from the southeast states. highs will be mainly in the mid 50s.

Friday will be a mostly cloudy day but it will be quite mild with highs approaching 60. A weak cold front moving through will give us a low chance of showers late Friday afternoon and at night.

High pressure will then build into our area gives us a nice day on Saturday with near seasonable temperatures.

Sunday will be cooler and breezy along with mostly sunny skies.

Dry weather will prevail Monday through Wednesday with seasonably mild temperatures.

The storm that gave us the rain and snow yesterday has move to the gulf of Maine as high pressure builds from the west. Skies will become mostly sunny today with highs in the 40s, however strong gusty winds 35-40 mph will make it feel more than 10 degrees colder.

After a chilly early morning it will become milder as the high pressure moves to the southeast states and we will have a return south-southwest flow on Thursday. After early morning lows near 30 temperatures will rise to the 50s in the afternoon with much less wind than today.

Friday will be mild again but we will have a chance of showers mainly after 5 p.m.

An extended period of dry weather is expected Saturday through Tuesday. Saturday will still be mild but it will be cooler and breezy on Sunday with milder weather returning for Monday and Tuesday.

Skies are cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and there is some light rain or drizzle falling over the Clifton area, however further inland the precipitation has changed to snow. Early temperatures range from 35 in Clifton down to 29 at High Point. Winds are from the northwest averaging 5-10 mph.

Clifton’s Almanac for March 14th:

A strong coastal low pressure off the Long Island coast will give our area rain that should change to all snow around sunrise and continue through early this evening. Accumulations here will average 2-4 inches mainly on colder surfaces, however further inland especially across higher elevations to our north and west will have amounts of 6-12 inches across the Poconos and the Hudson Valley. Winds will increase through the day with gusts over 40 mph likely.

We will dry out on Wednesday but it will continue to be very windy as the low pressure moves away and high pressure builds from the west. Again gusts may be over 40 mph. Temperatures will be seasonably cool.

Milder weather Thursday through Saturday with most highs in the mid 50s. Showers are likely from late Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

Sunday will be dry but breezy and cooler.

Low pressure off the Carolina coast will move northeast just off our coast by tonight. Rain from this system will fall much of today and become heavy at times tonight. Over the higher elevations to our north and west the precipitation may be in the form of snow.

As the storm intensifies southeast of Long Island on Tuesday the rain will likely change to snow on Tuesday and it will become quite windy with gusts to 35 mph. At this time snow accumulations in our area should average 1-3 inches with much higher amounts across the higher elevations across northwest New Jersey and the Hudson Valley where 6-12 inches may accumulate.

We dry out on Wednesday but it will be cool and very windy.

Milder on Thursday and Friday as high pressure will be off the southeast coast and a southwest flow of air will move into our area. A weak frontal system will give us a chance of showers Friday night into Saturday morning.

Dry and cooler weather expected for Sunday.

Weak high pressure will give us a nice day today with near seasonable temperatures, skies will start off sunny but we should see an increase in clouds this afternoon as the next system approaches our area.

A strong coastal storm will develop and give us rain and snow Monday into Tuesday. Most of the precipitation will be in the form of rain on Monday possibly mixed with snow but as the storm intensifies on Tuesday the precipitation may become mainly snow on Tuesday along with strong winds. Rainfall amounts of 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches are likely with snow accumulations of around 2 inches in our area but much higher to our north and west. At this point the confidence of forecast remains low so stay tuned for possible changes as it all depends on the strength and track of the potentially strong coastal storm. Winds from this system may gust to 40 mph on Tuesday.

Dry weather on Wednesday but it will be quite windy.

Dry and mild weather is expected Thursday and Friday.

A weaker frontal system may cause some showers on Saturday along with mild temperatures.
