Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and overnight showers have moved offshore, early temperatures range from 53 in Clifton down to 45 at High Point. Winds are light out of the northwest.

Yesterday we received less than the 1-2 inches forecasted as the heaviest rain remained to our east.

The frontal system that gave us the rain on Saturday is moving offshore as high pressure builds from the mid-west today and we should have a very pleasant spring day with plenty of sunshine, mild temperatures and lower humidity.

Much or all of this week will be dry. A couple of weak cold fronts will pass through the area, one on Monday night and then another Wednesday night.

The forecast for the holiday weekend looks uncertain as some computer models have an offshore low pressure moving into the area on Saturday. At this point we will forecast a slight chance of showers on Saturday with clearing and milder weather for Sunday and Memorial Day but that will probably change.

High pressure is moving off the New England coast and we will have a light onshore flow of air, temperatures will be a little milder today. Skies will start off mostly sunny but we will see an increase in clouds by this evening. Rainfall amounts will average between 1/2 and 3/4 of an inch, higher to our east but lower to our west.

Expect showers on Saturday with slightly below normal temperatures but we should have an increase in humidity. Most of the showers should end by midnight.

Becoming sunny and warmer but a little less humid on Sunday.

Much of next week will be dry with near or slightly above normal temperatures.

Skies are mostly clear and temperatures are near record lows in many parts of the area. At 5 a.m. Clifton’s temperature is 41 degrees which is only 3 degrees higher than the record low of 38 set back in 1983. Inland we have freezing temperatures with Walpack coming in at a chilly 26 degrees. We will probably not be this cool again until October. Winds are calm or light northerly.

High pressure will be over our area today and we will have a mostly sunny and cool day but with less wind than yesterday. Tonight will not be as cool as last night under mostly clear skies.

A frontal system will likely give us some needed rain on Saturday, rainfall amounts will be around 1/2 of an inch.

An extended period of dry weather is likely next week, temperatures will be near normal Monday and Tuesday then be above normal by Wednesday.

Looking further ahead to the holiday weekend it now appears that will be mainly dry and warm with highs each day in the 80s.

A cold front moved through our area overnight and high pressure will build from the north of the Great Lakes. Skies will become mostly sunny but it will be cooler with highs mainly in the upper 60s. With low humidity and gusty winds there is a chance of brush fires.

Tonight will be chilly with fair skies and light winds; temperatures will dip to near 40 in Clifton area down to the freezing mark across some areas of northwest New Jersey.

Tomorrow and Friday will continue to be cool but with diminishing winds as the high pressure moves closer to our area.

A frontal system will likely give us some rain Saturday and Saturday night.

Milder on Sunday with plenty of sunshine.

Continued dry early next week with temperatures at or slightly above normal.
