Skies are cloudy and foggy early on this Friday morning and there is some drizzle falling in parts of the area. Temperatures range from 64 in Clifton down to 60 at High Point and Wantage. Winds are mainly calm and the humidity is high with dew points mainly in the mid 60s.

The high pressure ridge that gave us the record breaking warmth the last two days is moving offshore and we should have a light onshore flow. High temperatures will be lower but still above normal. Skies will be sunny after early morning patchy fog.

A frontal system will move into the area on Friday which will give us cloudy skies with a chance of some light rain or drizzle during the day. Showers become more likely Friday night through Saturday night.

Much cooler and drier air is expected for Sunday and it will be windy.

Mainly dry and cool weather expected Monday through Wednesday. Early morning lows on Monday will likely be the coolest since early May with readings in the low 40s in Clifton down to the 30s further inland.

Today will be another warm day as a strong high pressure ridge will be over area. It will be hazy as some smoke from the Canadian wildfires will be aloft.

Unseasonably warm Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure continues to dominate our weather, highs both days will be in the 80s but we will continue to see widespread haze.

Not as warm on Thursday despite plenty of sunshine.

A couple of cold fronts will likely give us showers mainly from Friday afternoon through Saturday.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR SEPTEMBER 2023

Temperatures averaged 68.5 degrees which is slightly above normal; the highest temperature was 96 degrees set on the 7th which also is the highest temperature of the year. The lowest temperature was 48 set on the 27th. It was very wet with total rainfall amount of 9.00″ which made it the 5th wettest September since I started records in 1973. The highest amount was 2.36″ recorded on the 29th.
