Good morning everyone and Happy First Day of Daylight Saving Time!

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there is still some lingering drizzle falling in parts of the area. Temperatures are mild with readings ranging from 42 in Clifton down to 35 at High Point. Winds are mainly from the northwest averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 31.

The storm that gave us the heavy rain yesterday and especially last night is just east of our area this morning and will move to off the Nova Scotia coast by this afternoon. Some lingering drizzle this morning should end by dawn, then we should remain mostly cloudy with a chance of afternoon and evening rain and snow showers. Temperatures in the 40s this morning will drop to the 30s by sunset. Winds will increase from the northwest this afternoon and gust to over 30 mph tonight.

Very windy on Monday but we will be dry. Skies will become mostly sunny and with wind gusts to 50 mph it will feel much colder. A high wind watch is in effect.

Tuesday through Thursday will be dry with considerable warmup in temperatures. Tuesday will still be breezy but much less wind Wednesday and Thursday.

Still quite mild Friday and Saturday but there will be a chance of showers.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of scattered rain and snow showers, windy with gusts to 35 mph. low in the low 30s.

MONDAY – MAR 11 – Becoming sunny and very windy, highs near 50. A high wind watch is in effect for gusts to 50 mph likely.

TUESDAY – MAR 12 – Sunny with diminishing winds, milder with highs in the low 60s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 13 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 60s.

THURSDAY – MAR 14 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 60s.

FRIDAY – MAR 15 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, highs in the upper 60s.

SATURDAY – MAR 16 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, highs near 60.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday evening for westerly winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 6-9 feet.

OUTLOOK: Small craft advisories expected for Monday night; no advisories expected Tuesday through Thursday.
