Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures range from 56 in Clifton down to 52 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is good with an index of 48.

A warm front will move to our north this morning and we will have a southwest flow of quite warm and humid air today with highs in the 80s. Skies will start off mostly cloudy but become mostly sunny later this morning. Some afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are possible.

Saturday we will still be in the warm ahead of a cold front. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning becoming more likely in the afternoon and evening.

The front will be in our area on Sunday with showers and possibly some thunderstorms likely, temperatures will not be as warm.

Unsettled weather the rest of next week as an upper level low will be over our area. Showers and some thunderstorms will persist especially Monday and Tuesday still with a chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday. High temperatures will be near normal, nighttime lows should remain above normal.

Total rainfall from this afternoon through next week will average between 2-3 inches with higher amounts possible.

SUNDAY – MAY 4 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the morning then showers and possibly some thunderstorms in the afternoon and night. Not as warm, highs in the low 70s.

MONDAY – MAY 5 – Mostly cloudy with showers, highs in the upper 60s.

TUESDAY – MAY 6 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely, highs in the upper 60s.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 7 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, highs in the low 70s.

THURSDAY – MAY 8 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, highs near 70.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory has been issued effective between 2 p.m. this afternoon through 10 p.m. tonight for southerly winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 3-5 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Saturday morning; possible advisories Saturday afternoon through Tuesday.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR APRIL 2025. RECORDS STARTED IN 1973.

The first half of April was chilly but warm weather occurred in the last half of the month. Overall temperatures were 2.9 degrees above normal averaging 54.2 degrees. The highest temperature was 84 set on the 19th, the coldest was 28 degrees on the 9th. Rainfall was below normal totaling 3.33″ most of it falling in the first half of the month. Snowfall was a trace on the 12th when High Point had 6 inches. Also it was again a rather windy month with frequent gusts over 30 mph. A gust of 59 mph was recorded at Newark airport on the 15h.
