Good morning everyone and Happy July as I start my 53rd year of weather records here in Clifton!

Skies are cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and there are showers and thunderstorms in the area. Temperatures range from 73 in Clifton down to 69 at High Point. The humidity is high with dew points mainly in the low 70s. Winds are light from the south-southwest. The air quality is moderate with an index of 59.

A warm front is moving through the area accompanied by some showers and thunderstorms that should end by 6 a.m. The rest of today will be mostly cloudy, quite warm and humid with showers developing this afternoon and a chance of strong thunderstorms as a cold front approaches from the west.

The cold front will cross the area early Wednesday morning with lingering showers that should end by dawn. Skies will then be partly sunny with warm temperatures and less humidity.

Thursday will be quite warm with moderate humidity and mostly sunny skies but another weak cold front will cross the area at night with only a slight chance of a shower.

The holiday weekend looks to be very nice with dry conditions. The 4th will be mostly sunny with near normal temperatures and very low humidity. Temperatures and humidity will will rise especially on Sunday with highs back up into the 90s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers and possible some strong thunderstorms with some damaging winds, humid, lows in the low 70s.

WEDNESDAY – JULY 2 – Chance of a morning shower then becoming partly sunny and less humid, highs in the upper 80s.

THURSDAY – JULY 3 – Partly sunny with a slight chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm, highs near 90.

INDEPENDENCE DAY – JULY 4 – Sunny and comfortable, highs in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – JULY 5 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 6 – Partly sunny, highs in the low 90s.

MONDAY – JULY 7 – Partly sunny and hot with a chance of an afternoon shower and thunderstorm, highs in the mid 90s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 2 a.m. Wednesday morning for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 4-6 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 72 degrees.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Wednesday through Saturday.
