High pressure offshore along with a cold front approaching from the west will give us a southerly flow of hot and humid air today. High temperatures will reach the low-mid 90s and with dew points in the low 70s will cause heat indexes to rise to over 100 degrees, a heat advisory is in effect. Along with the heat there will be a good chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some storms may be accompanied by torrential rainfall along with strong gusty winds. A flood watch has been issued.
The front will be in our area on Wednesday and we should have more clouds with somewhat lower temperatures but the humidity will remain high. There will be a chance of mainly late afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.
The front will linger just south of our area Thursday through the weekend. An onshore wind through the period will cause high temperatures to be near normal but the humidity will remain high. Also there will be a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms each day. With the highest likelihood of rain being on Thursday.
