A southwesterly flow of very hot and humid air ahead of a cold front today. High temperatures in the upper 90s along with dew points in the low 70s will cause heat indexes to rise past 105 degrees and an extreme heat warning is in effect. The front will likely cause some severe thunderstorms later this afternoon into the evening with the main threat being damaging winds.
High pressure will build into the area on Saturday giving us a cooler and less humid day although temperatures will still be slightly above normal.
A frontal system on Sunday will likely give us showers and possibly some strong thunderstorms.
Hot and humid again Monday through Wednesday with a chance of afternoon and evening showers Tuesday and Wednesday.
Much cooler and less humid toward the end of next week.
