Skies are partly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and it is another warm and muggy morning with temperatures ranging from 75 in Clifton down to 69 at Hackettstown and Wantage. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 67.

A slow moving cold front will be in our area today which will cause lower temperatures but it will remain rather humid. Showers and thunderstorms are expected mainly this afternoon and tonight. Rain may be very heavy at times. Rainfall will average between 1-2 inches with higher amounts possible. It will be humid during the day but become less humid tonight.

Lingering showers Friday morning, then it will remain mostly cloudy during the day, breezy and cool with high temperatures only in the 70s.

Canadian high pressure will then dominate our weather this weekend through the middle of next week giving us plenty of sunshine each day, near seasonable temperatures and low humidity.

TODAY – JULY 31 – Increasing cloudiness with showers likely and possibly some thunderstorms this afternoon, rain may be heavy at times, humid, highs in the mid 80s.

TONIGHT – Showers with possibly some thunderstorms, some rain may be heavy at times, becoming cooler and less humid by late tonight, lows in the low 60s.

FRIDAY – AUG 1 – Chance of a morning shower then remaining mostly cloudy, breezy and cool, highs in the mid 70s.

SATURDAY – AUG 2 – Sunny, highs in the low 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 3 – Sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 4 – Sunny, highs in the upper 80s.

TUESDAY – AUG 5 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 6 – Partly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – East-southeast winds to 10 knots, seas 1-2 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 77 degrees.

OUTLOOK: A small craft advisory will be in effect from 8 p.m. tonight through 6 p.m. Saturday evening; no advisories expected for Sunday and Monday.
