Skies are mainly partly to mostly cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from 63 in Clifton down to 52 at Sandyston. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is moderate with an index of 51.

NOTE: 26 years ago today Hurricane Floyd caused massive flooding as more than 11 inches of rain fell in our area.

High pressure over Quebec will give us a brisk onshore flow of cooler air today. A coastal low pressure off the North Carolina coast will spread some clouds into the area by this afternoon.

The coastal low will come closer to our are on Wednesday and will give us considerable clouds along with a chance of periods of light rain. Rainfall amounts in our area will be only about a tenth of an inch while coastal area across southern New Jersey may pick up an inch.

We dry out on Thursday and with more sunshine temperatures will be warmer as high pressure builds into the area.

Friday should be the warmest day of the week with highs in the mid 80s. A cold front will come through later in the day without any rain.

Canadian high pressure will give us a dry but cool weekend.

Dry and warmer early next week.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening for northeast winds gusting to 35 knots, seas 6-9 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Thursday through Saturday.
