Sunny, cool and breezy today! Frost and freeze likely inland Friday morning followed by sunny and not as cool or windy during the day! Partly sunny on Saturday! Coastal storm becoming more likely Sunday and Monday with heavy rain and strong gusty winds! Dry with near seasonable temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are nearly 15 degrees colder than this time yesterday. Readings ranging from 51 in Clifton down to 39 at Pequest. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is good with an index of 26.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR OCTOBER 9TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 67 AVERAGE LOW: 48

RECORD HIGH: 83 – 2011 RECORD LOW: 31 – 2001

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 71 LOW: 55 PRECIPITATION: .53″

High pressure building from the Great Lakes will give us plenty of sunshine but it will be cool and breezy.

As the high pressure moves over the area on Friday morning, it will give us the coolest temperatures so far this season with some patchy frost in the Clifton area. However more inland temperatures will dip to the low 30s and a freeze warning is in effect. During the day on Friday it will be sunny and not as cool with less winds.

Saturday will be a partly sunny day with near normal temperatures as the high moves off the New England coast.

It appears now that we will have a strong coastal low moving up from the south that will likely give us heavy rain and strong gusty winds Sunday into Monday. Rainfall amounts will average 1-2 inches which is well needed.

The storm will weaken and move offshore and Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry with near normal temperatures.
