Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures range from 58 in Clifton down to 51 at High Point and Vernon. Winds are a little gusty out of the northeast. The air quality is good with an index of 33.

The coastal storm is off the Carolina coast and is expected to slowly move toward our area. Rain should develop by this afternoon and continue through tonight. Northeast winds will increase with gusts to 35 mph.

The storm will give us periods of rain on Monday along with strong winds again gusting to 35 mph, higher along the coast with gusts there up to 60 mph. Rainfall amounts will average between 1 and 1 1/2 inches with higher amounts possible. There is a coastal flood warning for our coastline.

There will be a chance of rain early Tuesday morning with clearing by the afternoon with near seasonable tempertures.

Dry weather is expected Wednesday through next weekend as high pressure dominates. Near normal temperatures on Wednesday, below normal Thursday and Friday then moderate somewhat for next weekend.

MONDAY – OCT 13 – Rain and windy, highs near 60, wind gusts to 35 mph.

TUESDAY – OCT 14 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of a morning shower then becoming partly sunny in the afternoon, breezy, highs in the upper 60s.

WEDNESDAY – OCT 15 – Sunny, highs in the mid 60s.

THURSDAY – OCT 16 – Sunny, highs near 60.

FRIDAY – OCT 17 – Sunny, highs in the low 60s.

SATURDAY – OCT 18 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A storm warning is in effect until 8 p.m. Monday night for northeast winds gusting to 50 knots, seas 12-17 feet.

OUTLOOK: Gales likely on Tuesday: advisories continuing for high seas Wednesday and Thursday.
