Mostly sunny, breezy and cool today! Increasing cloudiness and continued breezy on Wednesday! Coastal storm to give us heavy rain and strong winds Thursday and Thursday night! Chance of a early morning shower on Halloween then clearing and continued windy. Mainly dry and cool weather for the weekend! Another chance of rain late Sunday night into Monday!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from 42 in Clifton down to 28 at Basking Ridge. Winds are mainly light from the north. The air quality is good with an index of 37.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR OCTOBER 28TH:

RECORD HIGH: 84 – 2023 RECORD LOW: 28 – 1976

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 57 LOW: 40 PRECIPITATION: NONE

High pressure to our north along with a coastal storm well off the Carolina coast will combine to give us a brisk northeast flow of cool air today.

The high pressure will slowly move off the New England coast on Wednesday as another stronger coastal low approaches from the southwest. We should see an increase in clouds and it will remain breezy.

The coastal storm will be moving through our area on Thursday giving us rain heavy at times along with strong gusty winds. There is even a chance of a few thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts will average between 1-3 inches with higher amounts possible.

The storm will move offshore and away from our area on Halloween with the rain ending before daybreak. During the day it will be partly sunny and mostly clear at night for the trick or treaters but the wind will stay rather strong.

The weekend looks to be mainly dry and seasonably cool, winds will still be brisk on Saturday with lower winds speeds for Sunday.

Another low pressure will give us a chance of showers Sunday night into Monday.

Meanwhile Hurricane Melissa has become the strongest cyclone on earth this year with 175 mph winds. This storm will probably give Jamaica their strongest storm in history. I have been to Jamaica several times and I feel sorry for those nice people there and hopefully they will stay safe!
