Rain heavy at times today and tonight with strong winds! Clearing but continued quite windy on Halloween! Dry weather for the weekend with near normal temperatures, windy on Saturday, lighter winds on Sunday! Main dry with near seasonable temperatures Monday through Wednesday!

Light rain is falling over much of the area early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from 47 in Clifton down to 40 at High Point. Winds are a little gusty out of the northeast. The air quality is good with an index of 27.

A strong low pressure system will move through the area today giving us rain heavy at times especially this afternoon and evening with even a chance of a thunderstorm. Winds will pick up and become quite gusty from the northeast. Rainfall amounts will average between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches with some higher amounts possible. The rain should end around midnight.

The low pressure will move off the New England coast on Halloween and we will have clearing during the day but winds will be strong during the day and evening. High temperatures will be mainly in the 50s to near 60.

The weekend should be dry as high pressure builds into our area. Saturday will still be windy but less winds are expected for Sunday.

Dry weather looks to continue Monday through Wednesday. A weak cold front will come through dry on Tuesday with cooler weather for Wednesday.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers ending around midnight, lows in the upper 40s.

FRIDAY – OCT 31 – Partly sunny and windy, highs in the upper 50s, wind gusts to 35 mph.

SATURDAY – NOV 1 – Sunny and breezy, highs in the upper 50s.

SUNDAY – NOV 2 – Mostly sunny, highs near 60.

MONDAY – NOV 3 – Sunny, highs in the low 60s.

TUESDAY – NOV 4 – Sunny, highs in the low 60s.

WEDNESDAY – NOV 5 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 50s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 10 p.m. tonight for easterly winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 8-13 feet.

OUTLOOK: A gale watch has been issued effective Friday morning through Friday evening; gales possible Saturday morning with small craft advisories likely to continue through Saturday afternoon; no advisories expected Saturday night through Monday.
