Skies are mostly clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures are much colder than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 19 in Clifton down to 9 at High Point. Winds are mainly from the northwest averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 25.

Today will be cold with increasing cloudiness, snow should begin around 5 p.m. and become heavy at times tonight with the possibility of 1-2 inches of snow per hour. The snow may mix with sleet before ending Saturday morning. Snow accumulations will between 4-8 inches with higher amounts possible depending where the heaviest snow bands occur.
The rest of Saturday will remain mostly cloudy but cold.
Another frontal system is expected to affect our area Sunday afternoon through Monday but with milder temperatures most if not all of the precipitation will be in the form of rain.
Much colder on Tuesday as Arctic high pressure moves into our area. Also it will be windy with some gusts to 40 mph that will make it feel colder.
The rest of next week looks to be dry with continued below normal temperatures.
