Skies are cloudy and there is some light snow falling in parts of the area. Temperatures range from 29 in Clifton down to 22 at Pequest. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 83. Also there some black ice on untreated sidewalks and roads so be careful if you are going out this morning.

Yesterday’s disturbance over performed while the forecast was for less than an inch but up to 4 inches accumulated.

Also yesterday’s forecast was for only a 50% chance of some light snow for today but now it appears that the coastal low will be close enough to give us more snow. The snow will come through in two rounds the first will be this morning when mainly light snow will fall then we may have a break in the storm midday through the middle of this afternoon. The second round is expected to give us heavier snow later this afternoon and evening. Accumulations of 2-5 inches are likely. Winds will be light.

The storm will move to our north and east on Monday and we should have mostly sunny skies with seasonably cold temperatures along with more wind. An Arctic cold front is expected to come through dry Monday night.

Bitterly cold later Monday night through early Wednesday with highs on Tuesday only in the low 20s with overnight lows both days around 10 degrees and in some areas wind chills will be below zero.

Sunny and not quite as cold Thursday and Friday as high pressure moves offshore.

A disturbance will give us a chance of rain or snow on Saturday.

TUESDAY – JAN 20 – Sunny, breezy and bitterly cold, highs only in the low 20s, wind gusts to 30 mph.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 21 – Mostly cloudy and not as cold in the afternoon, highs in the low 30s.

THURSDAY – JAN 22 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 30s.

FRIDAY – JAN 23 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 30s.

SATURDAY – JAN 24 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow in the morning then a chance of rain or snow in the afternoon, highs in the low 30s.

OUTLOOK: A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 9 a.m. Monday morning through 6 p.m. Tuesday evening; advisories still possible Tuesday night through Wednesday.
