Snow developing around daybreak becoming heavy at times before mixing with and changing to sleet by later this afternoon and continuing into tonight! Expected accumulations of 8-10 inches of snow then about another 2 inches of sleet! Snow showers ending Monday morning followed by clearing in the afternoon! Dry but bitterly cold Tuesday into next weekend!

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and some snow has developed to our south. Temperatures are very cold once again with readings ranging from 10 in Clifton down to 1 above at High Point. Winds are light from the northeast. The air quality is good with an index of 22.

A low pressure area will be moving towards our area today and move just off the coast tonight. Snow should develop around dawn and quickly becoming heavy at times before mixing with or changing to sleet by later this afternoon and continuing tonight. There may be even be even some clasps of thunder. Accumulations of 8-10 inches of snow is expected then about an inch or two of sleet.

As the storm moves offshore on Monday we will have a chance of lingering snow showers in the morning with little of no additional accumulations. Some sunshine will develop in the afternoon.

Cold Arctic air will then be entrenched over our area Tuesday through at least the start of next weekend. Daytime highs will be mostly in the low-mid 20s while most overnight lows will be in the single digits. We should stay dry through this period.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with snow or sleet, lows near 20. additional accumulations of 1-2 inches, wind gusts to 30 mph.

MONDAY – JAN 26 – Chance of light snow in the morning then becoming partly sunny in the afternoon, highs near 30, wind gusts to 20 mph.

TUESDAY – JAN 27 – Mostly sunny, highs near 20.

WEDNESDAY – JAN 28 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 20s.

THURSDAY – JAN 29 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 20s.

FRIDAY – JAN 30 – Sunny, highs in the low 20s.

SATURDAY – JAN 31 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 20s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning will be in effect from noon today through midnight tonight for northeast winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 7-10 feet.

OUTLOOK: Possible gales Monday and Monday night; advisories probable Tuesday and Tuesday night; possible advisories Wednesday morning then no advisories expected for Wednesday afternoon and at night; advisories again probable on Thursday.
