Mostly sunny and frigid today and again on Saturday! Strong storm looks to stay offshore on Sunday with little or no effects in our area. Not as frigid next week but temperatures will stay well below normal! Chance of light snow Wednesday evening!

Skies are mainly clear early on this Friday morning and once again it is bitterly cold with readings ranging from 7 above in Clifton down to 2 below at High Point. Winds are a little gusty out of the northwest so inland valleys are not as cold as yesterday morning. The air quality is good with an index of 24.

Frigid weather to continue today and tomorrow as Arctic high pressure extends from central Canada to our area. Both days will have mostly sunny skies with high temperatures both days near 20 while overnight lows Saturday morning will be well down in the single digits.

The developing storm for Sunday looks to stay offshore with little or no affects to our area except for maybe some snow flurries and an increase in winds.

Most of next week will not be as frigid but temperatures will remain well below normal. We should stay dry except for a chance of light snow of Wednesday evening.

We look to return to the deep freeze by next weekend.

TODAY – JAN 30 – Sunny and cold, highs only in the upper teens.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear and frigid, lows near 3 above.

SATURDAY – JAN 31 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 20s.

SUNDAY – FEB 1 – Partly sunny with a chance of flurries, breezy, highs in the mid 20, wind gusts to 30 mph.

MONDAY – FEB 2 – Sunny, highs in the low 30s.

TUESDAY – FEB 3 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 30s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 4 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 30, chance of light snow at night.

THURSDAY – FEB 5 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 30.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. this evening for northwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 2-3 feet. A freezing spray advisory is in effect until 6 p.m this evening.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected through early Saturday afternoon; a gale watch has been issued effective between Saturday night through Sunday night; advisories expected to continue for Monday; no advisories expected for Tuesday.
