Dangerously cold today and tonight with wind chills down to -20 degrees and winds gusting to 50 mph, temperatures falling to the single digits by late this morning! Still extremely cold again on Sunday with slowly diminishing winds! Moderating temperatures next week and mainly dry!

Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and there is some light snow or flurries falling over parts of the area. Temperatures range from 24 in Clifton down to 13 at High Point. Winds have become gusty out of the northwest. The air quality is moderate with an index of 91.

An Arctic cold front is crossing the area early this morning and gusty northwest winds will follow the front along with rapidly falling temperatures. The light snow should end by daybreak with only a dusting of accumulations. Skies will become partly sunny this afternoon. A extreme cold weather warning is in effect as wind chills will fall to -20 degrees by this evening. There is also a wind advisory as gusts may reach 50 mph.

Extremely cold Sunday morning but winds should slowly diminish by the afternoon, skies will be sunny.

Next week we will be getting out of the deep freeze with temperatures near normal. We should stay mainly dry except for a slight chance of light snow on Wednesday and again on Friday but precipitation possibilities is only 20% both days.

TODAY – FEB 7 – Cloudy with some snow flurries ending then becoming partly sunny in the afternoon. Temperatures will fall to the single digits by late this morning. Winds gusting to 50 mph with wind chills -10 to -20 degrees. An Extreme cold warning along with a wind advisory is in effect.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and extremely cold lows near 2 above, wind gusts to 50 mph, wind chills down to -20 degrees.

SUNDAY – FEB 8 – Sunny and frigid with slowly diminishing winds, highs near 20, wind gusts to 35 mph.

MONDAY – FEB 9 – Partly sunny, highs near 30.

TUESDAY – FEB 10 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 30s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 11 – Mostly cloudy, highs in the upper 30s.

THURSDAY – FEB 12 – Partly sunny, highs in the upper 30s.

FRIDAY – FEB 13 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 10 a.m Sunday morning for northwest winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 6-9 feet. A heavy freezing spray warning is also in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

OUTLOOK: Small craft advisories to continue through Monday; no advisories expected for Tuesday and Wednesday.
