Sunny and continued frigid today with only slowly diminishing winds! Mostly cloudy on Monday with less wind and not as cold by the afternoon! Mainly dry with more normal temperatures the rest of this week!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Sunday morning and is brutally cold with readings ranging from 1 above (new record for the date) to 8 below zero at High Point. Winds are still gusting out of the northwest bringing wind chills down to -15 to -20 degrees. A extreme cold warning continues in effect. The air quality is good with an index of 28.

Arctic high pressure will dominate our weather again today with frigid temperatures. Winds will not quite as yesterday but still gusts to near 40 mph keeping wind chills well below zero.

The Arctic high pressure will be over us on Monday with very cold early morning temperatures but it will be a little milder in the afternoon along with much less wind.

Mainly dry through the rest of the week with temperatures just slightly below normal as we finally get out of this deep freeze.

TONIGHT – Clear, low near 6 above, wind gust to 30 mph.

MONDAY – FEB 9 – Mostly cloudy and not as frigid in the afternoon, highs near 30. Light winds.

TUESDAY – FEB 10 – Mostly cloudy, highs in the mid 30s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 11 – Partly sunny, highs near 40.

THURSDAY – FEB 12 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 30s.

FRIDAY – FEB 13 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 30s.

SATURDAY – FEB 14 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 10 a.m. this morning for northwest winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 5-8 feet. Also there is a heavy freezing spray warning in effect to 10 a.m. this morning.

OUTLOOK: Advisories expected during the day on Monday; no advisories expected Monday night through Wednesday.
