Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and there are some heavy showers falling in parts of the area. Temperatures are mild with readings ranging from 47 in Clifton down to 40 at High Point. Winds are gusty out of the southeast. The air quality is good with an index of 31.

A strong frontal system will give us rain showers heavy at times through this evening. A warm front will move to our north this morning and a strong southerly flow will develop pushing temperatures into the 60s, some wind gusts to 50 mph are possible. The cold front will pass through tonight possibly accompanied by a squall line with some heavy winds and rain. A wind advisory is in effect.

Canadian high pressure will give us dry but chilly weather Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday will be breezy with less wind for Wednesday.

Not as cool and we should stay dry Thursday into the day on Friday as the high pressure moves through our area.

A couple of weak disturbances will give us a chance of light rain Friday night through the weekend with near normal themperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 16 – Showers heavy at times along with a chance of thunderstorms, highs in the mid 60s. Wind gusts to 40 mph possible.

TONIGHT – Showers and possible some thunderstorms, heavy rain likely, lows in the mid 30s. Wind gusts to 45 mph.

TUESDAY – MAR 17 – Mostly sunny, breezy and much cooler, highs in the low 40s, wind gusts to 30 mph.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 18 – Mostly sunny, highs near 40.

THURSDAY – MAR 19 – Increasing cloudiness, highs in the upper 40s.

FRIDAY – MAR 20 – Partly sunny, highs in the mid 50s, chance of light rain at night.

SATURDAY – MAR 21 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of light rain, highs in the low 50s.

SUNDAY – MAR 22 – Partly sunny with a chance of light rain, highs near 50.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 2 a.m. Tuesday morning for southerly winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 9-14 feet.

OUTLOOK: Advisories expected to continued on Tuesday; possible advisories during the day on Wednesday. No advisories expected Wednesday night through Friday.
