Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and rain is falling over much of the area. Temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 49 in Clifton down to 45 at Vernon and High Point. Winds are a little gusty out of the northeast.

Low pressure currently is off the Virginia coast and will continue to give our area rain today and tonight. High temperatures today will only reach the low 50s and with northeast winds gusting to near 35 mph it will even feel colder. A rather dismal start to the weekend.
The rain should end around daybreak on Sunday as the low pressure slowly moves further to our east but it will remain mostly cloudy, breezy and quite cool.
At this point is still looks like next week will be mainly dry; temperatures will be below normal to start off the week but rise to above normal levels by the end of the week.

TODAY – MAY 7 – Rain and windy, highs only in the low 50s, winds gusting to 35 mph.
TONIGHT – Rain and windy, low in the low 40s, wind gusts to 30 mph.
SUNDAY – MAY 8 – Chance of showers mainly before 8 a.m. then remaining mostly cloudy, windy and cool, high in the mid 50s. Winds gusting to 30 mph.
MONDAY – MAY 9 – Mostly sunny and breezy, high in the mid 60s.
TUESDAY – MAY 10 – Sunny, high in the upper 60s.
WEDNESDAY – MAY 11 – Sunny, high in the low 70s.
THURSDAY – MAY 12 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 70s.
FRIDAY – MAY 13 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 70s.
MARINE FORECAST: A storm warning is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday morning for northeast winds gusting to 50 knots, seas 10-15 feet.
OUTLOOK – Gales expected to continue Sunday and Monday; small craft advisories expected to continue Tuesday into Wednesday.
