Rain finally ending this morning but today will be mostly cloudy, breezy and continued cool! Dry weather much of this week with a warming trend!

Skies are cloudy early on this Sunday morning and there is some light rain or drizzle still falling over much of the area. Temperatures are cool with readings at 5 a.m. ranging from 44 in Clifton down to 40 at High Point and Walpack. Winds are from the northeast around 5-10 mph.

The low pressure responsible for the rain and chilly weather the last two days is finally moving further offshore. Some light rain should end by daybreak but it still will be mostly cloudy with some breaks of sunshine this afternoon. It will still be breezy but not as windy as yesterday. High temperatures will only be in the 50s.

The weather will improve the rest of this upcoming week with dry conditions and a slow warming trend. High temperatures will be a little below normal on Monday, near normal on Tuesday and rise to above normal the rest of the week.

It appears that the next chance of showers will be next weekend but this time it will be not nearly as cool as this weekend.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAY 8 – Chance of light showers before 8 a.m. then remaining mostly cloudy, breezy and cool, high in the upper 50s. Northeast winds gusting to 25 mph.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy in the evening then becoming mostly clear, low in the low 40s.

MONDAY – MAY 9 – Sunny, high in the mid 60s.

TUESDAY – MAY 10 – Sunny, high near 70.

WEDNESDAY – MAY 11 – Sunny, high in the low 70s.

THURSDAY – MAY 12 – Sunny, high in the upper 70s.

FRIDAY – MAY 13 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 70s.

SATURDAY – MAY 14 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers, high near 80.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 10 a.m. Monday morning for northeast winds gusting to 35 knots, seas 9-10 feet.

OUTLOOK – Advisories expected to continue Monday through Wednesday morning; no advisories expected Wednesday afternoon through Thursday.
