Partly sunny, windy and continued bitter cold today! Not quite as frigid this coming week but temperatures will still be well below normal! Chance of light snow on Friday followed by frigid and windy weather again for next weekend!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and it is again very cold with readings ranging from 8 in Clifton down to -2 at High Point. Winds are gusty out of the north bringing wind chills down to -10 degrees. The air quality is good with an index of 27.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR FEBRUARY 1ST:

AVERAGE HIGH: 37 AVERAGE LOW: 22

RECORD HIGH: 63 – 1989 RECORD LOW: 6 – 2019  We had 19″ of snow in 2021.

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 26 LOW: 7 PRECIPITATION: NONE

Today will be bitterly cold again but with more wind. High temperatures should be in the mid 20s but with winds gusting to 30 mph will cause wind chills to below zero much of the day. The severe storm that is giving North Carolina and southern Virginia blizzard conditions will move well off our shore so no snow is expected in our area.

This coming week will not be as frigid. We should stay mainly dry through Thursday but an Alberta clipper will give us a chance of snow on Friday.

This low will be followed by more frigid Arctic air next weekend with brisk winds.
