Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Friday morning and again with mainly calm winds there is a large spread in temperatures ranging from 19 in Clifton down to 2 above at Pequest and Walpack. The air quality is good with an index of 39.

On this date in 1978 our area had a massive blizzard with nearly 2 feet of snow along with strong winds.

Today will be a quiet weather day with mostly cloudy skies along with light winds and seasonably cold temperatures.

Tonight an strong Arctic cold front will be approaching and passing through our area by daybreak on Saturday. The front will be accompanied by light snow which will give us a dusting to an inch of snowfall.

Dangerously cold with very strong winds Saturday and Saturday night as Arctic high pressure builds into our area. Temperatures will fall to 10 degrees by sunset along with wind gusts to 50 mph will cause wind chill values down to -20 degrees. A extreme cold warning along with a wind advisory will be in effect.

Sunday will still be very cold along with sunny skies, winds will slowly diminish but still gust to 30 mph.

Moderating temperatures next week but we should stay mainly seasonably cold. We will be mainly dry with only a chance of light snow on Wednesday.

SUNDAY – FEB 8 – Sunny with slowly diminishing winds, highs near 20. Wind gusts to 30 mph.

MONDAY – FEB 9 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 20s.

TUESDAY – FEB 10 – Sunny, highs in the low 30s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 11 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of light snow, highs in the mid 30s.

THURSDAY – FEB 12 – Mostly cloudy, highs in the mid 30s.
