Showers today with cooler temperatures by this evening! Joaquin to threaten the area over the weekend!

It is a warm and humid start to this Wednesday and there are some showers in the area, the main batch of rain has moved to our north after dropping over an inch of rain overnight, temperatures range from the low 70s in Clifton to the upper 60s inland.

Today a cold front will be approaching and moving offshore by this evening, showers with this front may cause an additional 1/4 inch of rain, temperatures will be quite mild preceding the front and much cooler after the front with temperatures falling into the 50s.

Thursday will be a windy and much cooler day with highs only around 60.  There will be a chance of rain during the day but rain will become more likely at night.

We will continue to have rain on Friday and it may become heavy at times as tropical moisture well ahead of Joaquin may set up in the area.

The weekend weather will be dependent on the track of Joaquin, the GFS model has the storm hitting the Virginia coast and then moves slowly north into our area causing heavy rain and wind both Saturday and Sunday while the European model has the storm remaining offshore.  To my friend Tom going to the race on Sunday in Dover, Delaware that the forecast at this point looks more pessimistic.

The remains of Joaquin may still give us rain on Monday.
