Increasing high clouds today with seasonably mild temperatures! Heavy rain with strong winds and quite mild late tomorrow afternoon through Christmas morning then turning much colder! Dry and chilly weather for the weekend!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton down to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light from the west.

High pressure overhead will give us a dry day with highs a couple of degrees above normal. We should see an increase in high clouds this afternoon, winds should be much lighter than yesterday.

A strong cold front with low pressure developing along the front will be approaching our area tomorrow which will give us a strong southerly flow of much milder air. Rain from this system should begin tomorrow afternoon and become heavy at times at time continuing into Christmas morning. Temperatures will rise into the 50s Rainfall amounts will be between 2-3 inches with wind gusts of 50 mph possible.

The strong cold front will cross the area Christmas morning followed by much colder air, the precipitation will end before any change over to snow.

The upcoming weekend is expected to be cold and dry.

A weak disturbance may touch off some light rain on Monday.

TODAY – DEC 23 – Increasing high clouds, high in the low 40s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, low in the mid 30s.

THURSDAY – DEC 24 – Cloudy with rain developing mainly after 3 p.m. high in the upper 50s. Strong winds and heavy rain at night.

CHRISTMAS DAY – DEC 25 – Rain heavy at times mainly before noon then partial clearing late in the day, breezy, early highs in the 50s will drop to the 30s by sunset.

SATURDAY – DEC 26 – Sunny, high in the low 30s.

SUNDAY – DEC 27 – Sunny, high near 40.

MONDAY – DEC 28 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of light rain, high in the mid 40s.

TUESDAY – DEC 29 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 30s.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Northwest winds to 10 knots, seas less than one foot.

OUTLOOK – A storm watch is in effect valid between 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon until 7 a.m. on Friday morning; small craft advisories are probable Friday and Saturday; no advisories are expected for Sunday.
