Our area has mostly clear conditions and it is rather chilly with temperatures ranging from near 30 in the Clifton area down to around 20 further inland, winds are nearly calm.

High pressure over New England today will give us a light onshore flow of air, temperatures will be near seasonable levels.

Dry conditions with light winds will continue on Sunday, temperatures will be a little milder than today.

Another dry day with seasonable temperatures on Monday.

A strong cold front will likely give us showers Tuesday and Wednesday followed by colder weather Thursday and Friday.

NOVEMBER 2017  CLIFTON CLIMATE SUMMARY.

November temperature was .5 degrees below normal.   Precipitation was well below normal with 1.39″ accumulating;   A trace of snow fell.

The highest temperature was 75 degrees on the 3rd;  lowest temperature was 21 degrees that was recorded on the 11th.   Most daily rain was .57 that fell on the 7th.

METEOROLOGICAL FALL 2017.

Temperatures averaged nearly 3 degrees above normal making this fall the warmest since I started records in 1973.  Precipitation was below normal with 8.6 inches recorded, with about 1/2 of that amount falling on the storm on October 29-30th.

FRIDAY  DECEMBER 1, 2017  5:42 A.M.

Our area has mostly fair skies early on this first day of December and the first day of meteorological winter, temperatures range from around 40 in the Clifton area down to near 30 further inland, some inland valleys have some fog.

A cold front is crossing the area now and high pressure will be building into the area, we should see plenty of sunshine and temperatures will still on the mild side with highs in the low 50s.

Dry weather to persist through the weekend into Monday, temperatures will continue to average slightly above normal.

A strong cold front will approach the area on Tuesday with showers likely into Wednesday, temperatures will be quite mild.

After the cold front passes on Wednesday it will turn colder for the end of the week.

THURSDAY  NOVEMBER 30, 2017  5:53 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in the Clifton area down to the low 20 further inland, however Walpack has fallen to 18 degrees.

Today we will have a mix of clouds and sun, it will be cooler than yesterday but still above normal.   A weak frontal system may cause some showers late tonight, less than a tenth of an inch of rain is possible.

High pressure will give us rather nice weather Friday through Monday, temperatures will average slightly above normal.

A strong frontal system will give us a better chance of showers Tuesday into Wednesday.

Colder weather is still anticipated for later next week with below normal temperatures expected to linger through at least the middle of December.

WEDNESDAY  NOVEMBER 29, 2017 5:51 A.M.

Our area has mostly clear skies early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are milder than the last couple of morning with readings ranging from the upper 40s in the Clifton area down to the upper 20s in some of the inland valleys, winds are light.

A cold front will cross the area around noon only associated with some broken clouds, temperatures will be quite mild as the colder air will be slow to move into the area behind the front.

Thursday will be a dry but cooler day, another front will give us a chance of showers at night.

High pressure will then dominate our weather Friday through the weekend, temperatures will be slightly above normal.

Another front may cause showers on Tuesday, temperatures Monday and Tuesday will continue to be seasonably mild.

Looking further ahead it appears that our mild temperatures will come to end after December 7th with a colder than normal air that may extend for a week or more.

We have mostly clear skies early on this Tuesday morning and it is chilly with temperatures ranging from the low 30s in the Clifton area down to the low 20s further inland, winds are light.

High pressure will give the area a southwest flow of mild air, we should have mainly sunny skies, there will be less wind than yesterday which will make it feel rather comfortable.

A cold front will come through dry on Wednesday but temperatures should still reach near 60 degrees.

Cooler Thursday and Friday and there is a chance of showers with another front Thursday night into Friday morning.

At this point the weekend still looks to be dry with near seasonable temperatures.
