The high pressure that dominated our weather is off the New England coast and we will have a light onshore wind. Skies will be partly sunny today with a slight increase in humidity as dew points rise to the low 60s.

A cold front will cross the area Saturday evening preceded by some showers mainly in the afternoon. Dew points will still be in the 60s.

Much cooler and drier air for Sunday and it should be breezy. High temperatures will be mainly in the low 70s with dew points dropping down to the comfortable 40s.

High pressure should dominate our weather much of next week. Temperatures will be slightly below normal on Monday but rise to above normal levels by Tuesday with highs mainly in the 80s the rest of the week.

High pressure extending from off the New England coast to our area will give us another sunny day today with a light onshore wind. The humidity will stay pleasant with dew points mainly in the 50s.

A little more clouds on Friday along with an increase in humidity as dew points rise to the 60s as the high pressure moves further offshore and we will continue to have a light onshore wind.

Showers are likely mainly Saturday afternoon and evening as a cold front swings through the area.

Sunday will be cool with lower humidity along with mostly sunny skies.

Dry much of next week with a slow warming trend as high pressure builds into the area. Temperatures will be near 80 on Monday then will be mainly in the 80s for the rest of the week.

Strong high pressure over our area will give us another sunny day today with seasonably mild temperatures along with low humidity as dew points will remain in the very comfortable 40s.

We will stay dry Thursday and Friday as the high pressure moves off the New England coast. The humidity will gradually increase with dew points in the 50s on Thursday and rise to the 60s on Friday as we will have a light onshore wind.

The threat of heavy rain has decreased for Saturday as a coastal low will be too far offshore, but we will have a chance of showers as a cold front moves through our area.

Pleasant weather returns for Sunday and should continue through at least the beginning of next week as another Canadian high pressure builds into our area.

A large high pressure area centered over the Great Lakes will give us a sunny and cool day today with low humidity with dew points only in the 40s. High temperatures will be about five degrees cooler than yesterday but with much less wind.

The high pressure will continue to dominate our weather Wednesday through Friday with mostly sunny skies each day with near seasonable temperatures. The humidity will slowly rise to near 50 on Wednesday and into the 60s by Friday.

A frontal system will give us a good chance of rain on Saturday with showers possibly lingering into Sunday morning.

Next Monday should be dry and cool with pleasant humidity levels.

High pressure building from the upper mid-west will give us a sunny and breezy day with seasonably warm temperatures. The humidity will drop through the day with dew points falling to the 40s by this afternoon.

Dry weather with continued very low humidity Tuesday and Wednesday, but the winds will be lighter as the high pressure builds closer to the area.

The high will move offshore later this week but we should stay dry with only a slight increase in humidity.

The weather will then become more unsettled as a low pressure system moves into the area which will give us a good chance of rain Friday night through early Sunday, with possibly some heavy rain.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR AUGUST 2024 – RECORDS GO BACK TO 1973.

August’s average temperature was 74.8 degrees which was near normal. The highest temperature was 97 degrees on the 1st, the lowest was 54 degrees on the 21st. Precipitation totaled 9.64″ and was the 4th wettest on record.

SUMMER 2024:

Temperatures were above normal especially June and July and it was the 6th warmest summer on record. Precipitation was slightly above normal with 15.36″ accumulating. June and July were drier than normal followed by the very wet August.
