Yesterday’s storm caused much more rain than the 1/2″ we predicted.

High pressure is building into our area today and skies will become partly sunny, temperatures will be quite mild with most highs in the low 60s. Today may be the best weather day of this week.

High pressure will then move off the coast on Monday and we should see an increase in clouds with a chance of rain at night as a weak coastal low approaches our area. High temperatures will be a couple of degrees lower than today.

The rest of the week into the weekend will be mild but there will be more chances of rain as a couple of low pressure areas move through our area.

Low pressure is moving into the area from the south and west and will give us a cloudy and foggy day with mainly light rain which should end by early this evening. Rainfall amounts will average around 1/2 of an inch. It will be mild with highs near 50.

High pressure will then build into the area for Sunday and it should be a very nice early March day with partly sunny skies with highs in the 60s.

High pressure will then move offshore as a weak area of low pressure approaches from the south. It should be dry during the day but there will be a chance of showers Monday night into Tuesday. It will continue to be mild.

Mainly cloudy with good chances of rain Wednesday through Friday, temperatures will still be mild throughout this period.

FEBRUARY 2024 CLIMATE SUMMARY. RECORDS SINCE 1973.

February’s average temperature was 37.2 degrees which was about 4 degrees above normal and was the 10th warmest February. The highest temperature was 59 degrees set on the 10th and the 28th. The lowest temperature was 18 degrees set on the 25th, this was the highest minimum temperature for February. Rainfall was below normal with 2.22″. Snowfall was near average with 11.2″ most of coming on the 13th when 8.5″ accumulated.

WINTER MONTHS

Temperatures during this winter season averaged well above normal and was the 4th warmest winter. Precipitation was well above normal also with 19.04″, December and January were quite wet while February was drier than normal. Snowfall was below normal with 18.6″ accumulating.

Much colder and windy today as high pressure builds from the Midwest. Highs temperatures today will only be in the low 40s but with winds gusting to 30 mph will make it feel much colder.

Friday will be milder after a chilly early morning, skies will be mostly sunny with much less wind than today as the high pressure moves off the coast. We should have an increase in clouds tonight with rain likely after midnight that may briefly start off as a mixture of snow.

A weak low pressure area offshore will give us cloudy and mild conditions on Saturday with rain expected, temperatures will be milder with highs near 50.

Mainly dry Sunday and Monday with quite mild temperatures as high pressure moves through our area.

A strong frontal system is approaching from the west and will cause showers today and it will be unseasonably mild with highs in the low 60s. Winds will increase from the south and gust to 35 mph this afternoon. We will likely pick up another 1/2 to 3/4″ of rain. The cold front associated with this system will cross the area this evening with winds becoming west-northwest and gusting to 45 mph. A wind advisory is in effect through early Thursday morning. Temperatures will drop to the mid 30s by midnight and the upper 20s by day break. It is likely that the wind will dry the roads and sidewalks before temperatures drop below freezing so black ice is not expected.

Winds will slowly diminsh by late Thursday afternoon, temperatures will be chilly with highs only near 40. despite having mostly sunny skies.

High pressure will be moving off the coast on Friday and we should have a mostly sunny and milder day.

Unsettled weather from Friday night through early next week with a chance of mainly light rain each day, however it will again be quite mild through this period.
