CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR FEBRUARY 11TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 39 AVERAGE LOW: 23

RECORD HIGH: 64 – 2009 RECORD LOW: 0 – 1979

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 59 (Tied Record high) LOW: 38 PRECIPITATION: TRACE

After having record tying warmth yesterday, today will be slightly cooler but still well above normal with highs in the low 50s despite having plenty of clouds. A weak high pressure system is building into our area.

Still mild during the day on Monday with partly sunny skies.

A winter storm will affect our area Monday night into Tuesday morning, the precipitation should start off as rain Monday night as the low pressure develops off the coast, but colder air will probably change to wet snow Tuesday morning and continue to around noontime followed by clearing. Tricky forecast for snow accumulations as we will have 2-4 inches of snow in Clifton but over 6 inches across northwest New Jersey into the Hudson Valley. Northeast winds will increase. My guess is that most accumulation here will be mainly over colder surfaces and the roads may be just wet.

Mainly dry weather Wednesday through Saturday with near or slightly below normal temperatures, a couple of weak disturbances may give us a slight chance of precipitation Thursday night into Friday.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – FEB 11 – Mostly cloudy, highs in the low 50s.

AVERAGE HIGH: 39 AVERAGE LOW: 23

RECORD HIGH: 59 – 2023 RECORD LOW: 3 – 1994

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 54 LOW: 38 PRECIPITATION: NONE

Today will be quite mild despite plenty of cloudiness as high temperatures are expected to approach the 60 degree mark. My record temperature for the date is 59 set in 1990 and tied again just last year. A weak cold front will give us a slight chance of light showers later this afternoon and evening.

Sunday will remain mostly cloudy and only slightly cooler as weak high pressure builds into our area.

A winter storm is expected for Monday night into Tuesday morning. At this time rain will develop Monday night and then change to snow before ending around noon on Tuesday. At the present time 1-2″ of wet snow is likely in the Clifton area with much higher amounts to our north and west.

Most of the rest of the week looks to be mainly dry with near normal temperatures.

Good morning everyone!

Skies have become mostly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures are mild with readings ranging from 38 in Clifton down to 33 at Basking Ridge. Winds are calm or light southerly. The air quality is moderate with an index of 66.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR FEBRUARY 9TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 39 AVERAGE LOW: 23

RECORD HIGH: 60 – 1990 RECORD LOW: 5 – 1979 (Note: on this date in 1934 Central Park had its coldest temperature on record with a reading of -15 degrees)

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 53 LOW: 31 PRECIPITATION: NONE

A warm front passing north of our area will cause mostly cloudy skies this morning, but the clouds will decrease by this afternoon and become mostly sunny with highs mainly in the mid 50s.

A weak cold front will give us a chance of light showers on Saturday and it will be quite mild with high temperatures possibly reaching 60 degrees.

Sunday will be only slightly cooler and dry.

A stronger low pressure area will likely give us rain and or snow Monday into Tuesday; still too early to predict snow accumulations as the track and the strength of the storm is still uncertain, but the best chance of plowable snow will be across higher elevations of northwest New Jersey.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – FEB 9 – Cloudy this morning then become mostly sunny, highs in the mid 50s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, lows in the upper 30s.

SATURDAY – FEB 10 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, highs in the upper 50s.

SUNDAY – FEB 11 – Partly sunny, highs in the low 50s.

MONDAY – FEB 12 – Mostly cloudy with rain and snow likely, highs in the upper 40s.

TUESDAY – FEB 13 – Rain and snow likely in the morning then clearing and breezy, highs in the low 40s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 14 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 40s.

THURSDAY – FEB 15 – Mostly sunny, highs near 40.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Southerly winds to 10 knots, seas 3 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected during the day on Saturday; no advisories expected Sunday through the day on Monday; advisories possible Monday night; advisories likely for Tuesday.

Have a nice day but please stay safe!

Mostly sunny and mild today with very light winds! Continued mostly sunny and mild on Friday! Mild weather to continue on the weekend with a low chance of showers Saturday afternoon! Cooler with rain and or snow likely Monday and Tuesday!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are a few degrees milder than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 31 in Clifton down to 23 at Walpack and Pequest. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 58.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR FEBRUARY 8TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 38 AVERAGE LOW: 23

RECORD HIGH: 62 – 2017 RECORD LOW: 5 – 1985

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 49 LOW: 28 PRECIPITATION: NONE

High pressure will be along the east coast today and we will again have mostly sunny skies. Winds will be quite light and with highs in the low 50s it will be a pleasant winter day.

Friday will again be mostly sunny and mild as the high pressure moves off the coast.

Continued mild over the weekend, but a weak cold front will give us a chance of light showers Saturday afternoon.

A low pressure system will likely give us rain and or snow Monday into Tuesday. The track and strength of the storm is uncertain at this time. The GFS model would give us a foot of snow while the European model indicates we would have only rain.. So at this time I expect a mixture of rain and snow, with the chances of more in the way of snow being in the higher elevations to our north and west.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – FEB 8 – Mostly sunny, highs near 50.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy, lows in the mid 30s.

FRIDAY – FEB 9 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 50s.

SUNDAY – FEB 11 – Partly sunny, highs in the low 50s.

MONDAY – FEB 12 – Mostly cloudy with rain or snow likely, highs in the upper 40s.

TUESDAY – FEB 13 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, highs in the low 40s.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 14 – Mostly sunny and windy, highs near 40.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – Variable winds less than 5 knots, seas 3 feet.
