Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and early temperatures range from 28 in Clifton down to 24 at High Point. Winds are mainly from the northwest averaging 5-10 mph.

Low pressure east of Nova Scotia will be moving further away as high pressure builds from the Midwest. Skies will be sunny both today and on Wednesday with temperatures at or slightly below normal. The winds will not be as breezy as the last few days.

A very strong storm is expected to develop over the southeast states and move well to our west. We will be on the warm side of the storm and we should have mainly rain possibly beginning as a wintery mix well inland. Rain should start Thursday afternoon and becoming heavy at times Thursday night into Friday. An Arctic cold front associated with the storm will move through Friday afternoon followed by much colder air by Friday night. Temperatures well up into the 50s with drop quickly to the teens by Saturday morning. Rain fall amounts will average 1-2 inches. Winds will be quite strong with frequent gusts above 40 mph. The Great Lakes and Midwest is expected to have a crippling blizzard from this storm which will cause problems for holiday travelers in those areas.

The Christmas weekend looks to be dry and very cold with strong winds on Saturday diminishing on Christmas Day.

Low pressure near the Canadian Maritimes and high pressure building from the south and west will give us a sunny day today with seasonably cold temperatures.

High pressure will continue to dominate our weather Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures slightly below normal.

A coastal storm is expected to give us rain that may start off as a wintery mix Thursday afternoon and continue heavy at times on Friday, temperatures will warm up to near 50 on Thursday and well up into the 50s on Friday. An Arctic cold front then will come rushing through the area Friday night with the rain possibly changing to snow before ending. Any standing water from the rain may freeze solidly as a flash freeze may occur. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are possible along with strong winds.

The Christmas weekend will be dry and very cold with daytime highs mainly in the 20s and overnight lows in the teens.

An upper level low north of the Great Lakes in combination with high pressure well to our southwest will give us a cyclonic westerly flow of seasonably cold air. Skies will become mostly cloudy by this afternoon and there is a chance of some flurries.

Dry and seasonably cold weather to persist Monday through Wednesday as high pressure builds closer to our area.

At this point it appears that the coastal storm will move inland over the area which will cause mainly rain that may briefly begin and end with some snow. The best chance of precipitation is from around noon on Thursday through Friday evening.

Arctic air will then move into our area for the Christmas weekend with highs mainly in the 20s and lows in the teens however we should stay dry.

The storm responsible for the rain the last two days is now moving off the Maine coast as high pressure builds from the west. We should have mostly sunny skies today with highs near normal in the low 40s.

Partly to mostly sunny skies on Sunday with highs a couple of degrees lower than today.

Dry weather to persist Monday through Wednesday with slightly below normal temperatures.

A coastal storm is expected to develop and move through our area Thursday and Friday, latest models show that the storm will track more inland so the precipitation in our area may be mostly in the form of rain with mainly snow further inland. The potential storm is still 5 days away so this forecast will likely change so keep tuned for further updates.

Cold Arctic air will be with us for the Christmas weekend but we should stay dry.

The coastal low pressure is now located east of Atlantic City and will move up along the coast today. Periods of mainly light rain or drizzle will continued through this evening. Additional rainfall will be around 1/2″. Winds will remain strong with gusts to 35 mph slowly diminishing tonight.

As the storm moves away high pressure will build into our area for the weekend. Saturday will be sunny but breezy and cool. Sunshine again on Sunday, highs will be a couple of degrees lower than on Saturday but we should have less wind.

Fair and seasonably cold weather to continue Monday through Wednesday.

A strong coastal storm looks more likely Thursday afternoon into Friday with some significant snow accumulations possible followed by dry but quite cold weather for the Christmas weekend.
