Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 64 in Clifton down to 58 at High Point. Winds are light from the north and the humidity is low to moderate with dew points near 60.

The low pressure that gave us the clouds and precipitation the last two days has moved further to our southeast as high pressure builds into the area. Sunshine will return today with warmer temperatures along with low humidity with dew points in the 50s.

Nice September weather will continue Friday through early next week with dry conditions and seasonably warm temperatures. The humidity will be on the low side Friday and Saturday but rise somewhat Sunday and Monday.

A slow moving front may touch off some showers Tuesday and Wednesday with temperatures still above normal.

Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 63 in Clifton down to 59 at High Point and Vernon. There are some scattered light showers in parts of the area. The humidity remains high and the winds are a little brisk out of the north.

After yesterday’s well needed rain today we will only have a chance of scattered light showers as the front and low pressure sags to our south. With the clouds and onshore flow high temperatures will only rise to the low 70s.

High pressure will be in control of our weather Thursday through the weekend with mostly sunny skies each day and near normal temperatures on Thursday but become above normal Friday through the weekend.

A frontal system may cause some showers early next week, temperatures will continue to be a little above normal.

NOTE: On this day 43 years ago in 1979 Hurricane David caused high winds and power outages in our area. My dad’s cherry tree didn’t survive this storm!

Finally we will have some needed rainfall today and tonight as the front will be in our area. Temperatures will be cooler but the humidity will be high. Rainfall amounts will be around 1.5 inches. A flood watch is in effect. The bad news is it will be raining, the good news is it will be raining.

Still showers will be likely on Wednesday as a disturbance forms on the front to our south and moves offshore.

A slow moving front will be in our area today giving us mostly cloudy skies with a chance of showers during the day. Showers will become more widespread and may be heavy at times tonight. High temperatures today will be lower than yesterday but it will remain humid.

Well needed soaking rain is likely mainly Tuesday morning as the front will still be in our area. Rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are likely with higher amounts possible. A flood watch is in effect.

Still a chance of showers on Wednesday but if any rain falls it will be much lighter than on Tuesday.

High pressure will then build into our area providing our area with dry conditions Thursday through next weekend with seasonably mild temperatures.

Winds are mainly calm or light southerly and it is moderately humid with dew points in the 60s.

Today will be a warm and humid day as high pressure moves offshore and a cold front was to our north and west. There is a chance of some afternoon and evening showers and possibly some thunderstorms. High temperatures will be well up into the 80s with dew points in the upper 60s.

Significant well needed rainfall is now expected with showers heavy at times with some thunderstorms especially from Monday evening through Tuesday. Rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are expected. With the cloudy cover and an onshore wind high temperatures will be near 80 on Monday and only in the mid 70s on Tuesday but it will be humid with dew points in the mid to upper 60s. A slow moving cold front will be in our area.

At this time Wednesday through the beginning of next weekend should be dry but some models show a possible disturbance along the front to our south that would give us lingering showers Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will be near normal Wednesday and Thursday and rise to above normal Friday and Saturday.
