WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 6, 2017. 6:47 A.M.

Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and there are some showers falling in parts of the area, temperatures are mild ranging from the upper 60s in the Clifton area down to the low 60s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A slow moving cold front moving through the area today will give the area showers today and tonight, some of the rain may be heavy at times with a possible thunderstorm, temperatures will rise little from the present readings, an inch of rain is possible.

The front will move offshore and the rain should end by daybreak tomorrow morning followed by clearing and seasonably cool temperatures.

Dry weather is anticipated Friday through early next week and it will remain seasonably cool.

MARINE FORECAST – A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 p.m. this evening, winds southwest to 6 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories possible for high seas Thursday through Sunday.

TROPICS:  Dangerous Hurricane Irma with top winds of an amazing 185 mph is near the Leeward Islands and is expected to approach Florida by the weekend, latest forecast has the storm moving along Florida’s east coast and then come onshore near the Georgia and South Carolina border. Also Tropical Storm Jose has formed well out in the Atlantic and is expected to become a hurricane.

TUESDAY  SEPTEMBER 5, 2017  7:11 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and it is milder and more humid than the last few mornings with readings ranging from the upper 60s in the Clifton area down to the middle 50s further inland, there is a light southwest wind.

Today will be a warm and humid day as high pressure moves offshore and a cold front approaches from the west. Showers and thunderstorms should develop mainly by this evening, some of these storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and heavy rain.

Showers will likely continue tomorrow into Thursday morning as the front slowly moves into the area along with cooler temperatures.

High pressure then moves into the area Thursday afternoon and dominate our weather through the weekend, temperatures will continue to be cool.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY SEP 5 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with showers and possibly some thunderstorms, some storms may be accompanied by strong gusty winds and heavy rain, low in the upper 60s.

WEDNESDAY  SEP 6 – Cloudy with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, cooler with highs in the low 70s.

THURSDAY. SEP 7 – Cloudy with a chance of showers in the morning then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, high in the mid 70s.

FRIDAY. SEP 8 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 70s.

SATURDAY. SEP 9 – Sunny, high around 70.

SUNDAY. SEP 10 – Sunny, high in the low 70s.

MONDAY – SEP 11 – Sunny, high in the mid 70s.

MARINE FORECAST:  A small craft advisory is in affect till 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning for south to southwest wind gusting to 25 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions possible Wednesday into Thursday morning; no advisories expected Thursday afternoon and night; possible advisories again possible Friday and Saturday.

TROPICS:  Dangerous Hurricane Irma is now approaching the Leeward Islands with winds up to 150 mph. Irma is forecasted to move just north of Cuba on Saturday and then move up the Florida peninsula on Sunday and move inland into the southeast states early next week and weaken.

MONDAY. SEPTEMBER 4, 2017. 7:23 A.M.

We have mostly fair skies early on this Labor Day and temperatures range from the upper 50s in the Clifton area down to the upper 40s further inland where there may be some pockets of fog, winds are light.

Today will be a nice summer like day with plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures as high pressure over Tennessee gives us a southwest flow of air.  Tonight will be mostly clear with quite mild temperatures.

Tomorrow the high pressure will move off the coast, it will be a warm day with an increase in humidity, there will be an increase in clouds with a chance of showers late in the afternoon as a cold front approaches the area.

Showers and possibly some strong thunderstorms Tuesday night with showers likely Wednesday into Thursday with cooler temperatures.

Friday through the weekend should be dry with cooler than average temperatures.

TODAY SEP 4 – Sunny, high in the low 80s.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, low in the upper 60s.

TUESDAY SEP 5 – Mostly sunny and humid, high in the upper 80s, chance of showers after 3 pm, becoming likely at night with possible thunderstorms.

WEDNESDAY SEP 6 – Cloudy with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, high in the mid 70s.

THURSDAY SEP 7 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

FRIDAY SEP 8 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 70 70s.

OUTLOOK – Small craft conditions tonight into the day on Wednesday, no advisories expected Wednesday night through Friday.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Irma is in the open Atlantic heading westerly, top winds are 115 mph, Irma is forecasted to intensify and be just north of Cuba on Saturday, too early to tell if and how the storm will affect us next week.

SUNDAY. SEPTEMBER 3, 2017. 7:55 A.M.

Our area has cloudy skies this Sunday morning and there is some light rain falling in parts of the area, temperatures are not as cool as yesterday morning with readings ranging from the upper 50s in the Clifton area down to the low 50s further inland, winds are light from the northeast.

Low pressure is moving off the southern New Jersey coast, rain from this system will continue till around noon with some clearing by early this evening, temperatures will be a few degrees milder than yesterday.

Finally some nice summer like weather for Labor Day, with plenty of sunshine and temperatures reaching the low 80s.

Warm weather continues for Tuesday, it should remain mostly sunny but some showers possible at night as a slow moving cold front approaches the area.

Showers are likely Wednesday and Thursday as the front slowly crosses the area, temperatures will be cooler.

Dry weather for Friday and Saturday with slightly below normal temperatures.

MARINE FORECAST: TODAY – East to southeast wind to 14 knots, seas 3-4 feet.  Belmar’s ocean temperature is 74 degrees.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft conditions Monday through Wednesday.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Irma is moving westward from the middle of the Atlantic ocean with top winds of 115 mph, the storm is expected to intensify and most models are indicating that the storm will hit somewhere along the United States east coast around September 11th.

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 2, 2017 7:23 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are quite cool ranging from around 50 in the Clifton area to some upper 30s in some of the cooler spots in northwest New Jersey, winds are light northeast.

Today we will see an increase in clouds as high pressure moves off the coast and the remains of Harvey approaches the area, there is a chance of rain late this afternoon but most rain will hold off till tonight, it will be cool.

The rain will taper off on Sunday morning with some showers lingering to the early afternoon, temperatures will not be as cool.

Labor Day will be the best day of the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures.

Tuesday will be quite warm with showers possible at night as a cold front approaches from the west.

The front will be slow moving so showers are possible Wednesday and Thursday with cooler temperatures.

Friday we should see clearing with continued cooler than average temperatures.

TODAY SEP 2 – Increasing cloudiness with a chance of rain mainly after 4 p.m., high near 70.

TONIGHT – Rain mainly after 7 p.m., low in the low 60s.

SUNDAY SEP 3 – Rain tapering off to showers around 10 a.m., with a chance of showers into the early afternoon, high in the mid 70s.

LABOR DAY SEP 4 – Sunny, high in the mid 70s.

TUESDAY SEP 5 – Mostly sunny and quite warm, high in the upper 80s, chance of showers at night.

WEDNESDAY SEP 6 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely, high near 80.

THURSDAY SEP 7 – Cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the low 70s.

FRIDAY SEP 8 – Partly sunny, high in the mid 70s.

MARINE FORECAST – TODAY – East to northeast wind to 12 knots, seas 2 feet. A small craft advisory is posted from 6 p.m. this evening until 6 a.m. Sunday morning. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 74 degrees, there is a high risk of dangerous rip currents today.

OUTLOOK – Possible small craft conditions lingering into Sunday, no advisories expected Sunday night and Monday, possibly small craft conditions Tuesday and Wednesday.

TROPICS:  Hurricane Irma well out in the Atlantic with top winds of 110 mph, models are showing that the storm may affect the east coast next weekend as a major hurricane.
