After having our first 90 temperature of the year yesterday, today will not be quite as warm with more clouds as a slow moving cold front approaches from the west. Skies will be partly sunny and there will be a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

The front will move through the area on Saturday with showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm, high temperatures will be lower but the humidity will remain high.

Sunday should be less humid but a disturbance to our south will give us a chance of rain Sunday night.

Weak high pressure will then build in briefly for Monday and we should remain dry but with mostly cloudy skies.

Another frontal system will likely give us showers Tuesday into Tuesday night.

Dry weather is then expected for the rest of next week with warm temperatures.

Yesterday’s high temperature of 89 was the warmest since last August 28th and today may be a degree or two higher as a southwest flow of hot and humid air covers our area from high pressure offshore. It will remain humid with dew points in the 60s. Skies will be partly sunny.

More clouds on Friday and it will remain quite warm and humid and there will be a low chance of some afternoon or evening showers.

Showers are more likely with a chance of thunderstorms on Saturday; with more clouds and rain afternoon highs will not be as high, but it will remain humid.

Sunday will continue to be mostly cloudy, but it should be less humid and we will still have a low chance of an afternoon shower.

A couple of disturbances will cause unsettled weather early next week. There will be a chance of showers Monday night with showers and thunderstorms more likely Tuesday and Tuesday night.

High pressure should then build into our area on Wednesday giving us a mostly sunny day with seasonably warm temperatures.

High pressure off the coast will give us a mostly sunny and quite warm day today with a southwest breeze. Skies may still be hazy due to some of the smoke from the Canadian wildfires. Also there is an air quality alert as some ground ozone may cause unhealthy air quality this afternoon and this evening.

Thursday should be a partly sunny and humid day but we should stay dry as the high pressure slowly moves off the coast.

A frontal system will give us a chance of showers Friday afternoon and evening, it will remain quite warm and humid.

Showers and possibly some thunderstorms are likely on Saturday with some heavy downpours possible, high temperatures will be a little lower but the humidity will remain high.

Sunday a high pressure will move into our area giving us partly sunny skies with less humidity.

High pressure is moving off the coast and we will have a light west-southwest flow of warmer air today along with mostly sunny skies. High tempertures today will be around ten degrees higher than on Monday. Skies may be a little hazy due to some of the smoke from fires in Canada that will be moving over our area.

Even warmer Wednesday and Thursday as the high moves further off the coast and southwest winds will start bringing in more humid air. Skies will be mostly sunny both days.

A slow moving cold front will give us a good chance of showers Friday afternoon and evening along with warm and humid conditions.

Showers are likely on Saturday and it will not be as warm but it will continue to be humid. Showers may be heavy at times.

High pressure building from Ohio will give us a sunny and seasonably mild day today. The winds will be much lighter as the low pressure off the Canadian Maritimes weakens and moves further away.

The high pressure will slowly move through the area on Tuesday giving us another sunny day with warmer temperatures.

The high pressure will move off the coast and a southwesterly flow of very warm to hot air will dominate our weather and give us a taste of summer as the humidity will also rise.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR MAY 2025. Records began in 1973.

May’s average temperature was 61.8 degrees which was slightly below normal. The highest temperature was 86 degrees set on the 2nd and the 3rd. The lowest temperature was 45 degrees set on the 20th and the 24th. Precipitation totaled 6.23″ which was above normal and was the 10th wettest May since my records began. There was 19 days with at least a trace of rain.

SPRING 2025: Spring’s average temperature was above normal and was the 8th warmest Spring. Precipitation totaled 14.12″ which was a bit above normal and was the 18th wettest Spring. Only a trace of snow was recorded in March and again in April.
