Skies are mainly overcast early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are not as cool as the last couple of mornings with readings ranging from 60 in Clifton down to 50 at Sandyston. Winds are a little brisk our of the northeast. The air quality is good with an index of 27.

High pressure off the Maine coast and a weak coastal low will give us a northeast flow of air today. Some light rain is possible mainly falling this morning. With the clouds and onshore wind, high temperatures will only be in the upper 60s.

High pressure will then build into our area on Thursday giving us plenty of sunshine and warmer temperatures. A weak cold front is expected to come through dry at night.

Mainly dry with near normal temperatures Friday through next week. A cold front will cross the area Sunday night with only a slight chance of a shower.

High pressure over New England will give us a northeasterly flow of dry and cool air today.

A weak disturbance along the front offshore may be close enough to give us some light rain Wednesday morning. With more clouds high temperatures will be below normal.

High pressure then returns on Thursday and it will be a mostly sunny and warmer day. A weak cold front is expected to come through dry Thursday night.

A large high pressure area over the Midwest will give us a sunny day today with light winds and temperatures a little below normal. The humidity will be low with dew points mainly in the 40s.

The nice weather will continue on Tuesday with plenty of sunshine along with seasonably cool temperatures as the high pressure moves to New England.

There is a low chance of light rain on Wednesday as a coastal front may come close to our area.

Then high pressure will build into the area and dominate our weather Thursday through the weekend. Thursday will be the warmest day of the week with highs in the low 80s then somewhat cooler Friday through Sunday with most highs in the mid to upper 70s.

The Clifton area missed much of the severe weather or flooding rains yesterday.

A weak low pressure along the front that moved to our southeast yesterday evening will continue to give us light rain this morning with clearing by later this afternoon. Temperatures will be cool with most highs in the low 70s.

Much of the rest of the week will be dry. Temperatures will be a bit below normal. High pressure will dominate our weather. Thursday may be a little warmer but a cold front will come through dry at night. Friday should be cooler as another high pressure builds from the northwest.

NOTE: On this day 46 years ago in 1979 Hurricane David caused high winds and power outages in our area. My dad’s cherry tree didn’t survive this storm!

A strong cold front will come through our area tonight. This morning will be partly sunny, quite warm and humid. Showers and thunderstorms this afternoon and tonight with possibly some strong to severe storms with damaging winds and hail. Also rain may be heavy at times. Rainfall amounts will average between 1-2 inches.

Some lingering showers Sunday morning as a weak low pressure wave moves along the front to our south. We will have clearing by the afternoon and it will be cooler and less humid.

Mainly dry weather next week. Monday through Wednesday will be cool, slightly warmer on Thursday but becoming cooler again on Friday.
