Today will be mostly sunny and hot with moderate humidity. A weak cold front may touch off a shower this afternoon or evening but most areas will remain dry.

High pressure will give us another sunny day with hot temperatures on Wednesday but a little less humid.

Thursday should be the hottest day of the week with highs well up into the 90s and the humidity will slowly increase which will cause heat indexes to rise above 100 degrees.

A front will be in our area Friday through the weekend, which will likely cause showers on Friday with a chance of showers both Saturday and Sunday, mainly in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be very warm with high humidity as dew points should be in the low 70s.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR JULY 2022

Temperatures were well above normal with an average of 79.2 degrees which made it the 3rd warmest July since 1973, hottest was in 2020. The highest temperature was 99 degrees set on the 24th, the lowest was 63 recorded on the 4th and the 27th. 11 days of 90 degree plus temperatures and 6 days of temperatures of 95 degrees or more. Precipitation was near normal with 4.30″ accumulating. Most of the rain came on two occasions, .90″ on the 8th and 2.88″ on the 18th. Some areas of New Jersey missed most of the precipitation, Newark airport only had .55″ of rain which was their driest July on record.

A small low pressure area will move offshore this morning and showers should end by 9 a.m., skies should remain mostly cloudy and it will be humid with dew points in the upper 60s. High temperatures should average in the low 80s but could be higher if we get more sunshine than anticipated later this afternoon.

Dry and hot weather Tuesday through Thursday with Thursday being the hottest day with highs well up into the 90s. Humidity during this period will be moderate with dew points mainly in the mid 60s.

High pressure moving through the area will give us another nice summer day today with plenty of sunshine and seasonably warm temperatures. The winds will not be as brisk as yesterday and the humidity will rise a bit later in the day.

A weak low pressure will cause an increase in clouds tonight with a chance of showers Monday morning. With more cloudiness, high temperatures will be a little lower during the day on Monday but the humidity will be higher with dew points in the upper 60s.

Dry weather is expected with hot temperatures and moderately high humidity Tuesday through the day on Thursday. Highs will be near 90 Tuesday and Wednesday and in the upper 90s on Thursday.

It now appears that Friday will not be as hot with a good chance of showers, however it will be humid with dew points in the low 70s.

At this point next weekend looks to be mainly dry with seasonably warm temperatures.
