Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and there is some drizzle falling in parts of the area, temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 43 in Clifton down to 36 at High Point. Winds are calm or light east-southeast.

A strong winter storm will affect our area today! Rain developing around sunrise and as much colder air arrives the rain will change to snow by noon and continue heavy at times this afternoon and with winds gusting to over 40 mph we may have blizzard like conditions briefly this afternoon. The snow should end by sunset with 1-3 inches expected with higher amounts to our north and west. Temperatures in the 40s this morning will plummet to the low 20s by sunset causing a flash freeze. A winter weather advisory along with a wind advisory is in effect.

Sunday will be a chilly day despite sunny skies, gusty winds in the morning will slowly diminsh in the afternoon as the storm moves to the Canadian Maritimes and high pressure build from the west.

After winter like weather this weekend next week looks to be mainly dry with above normal temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 12 – Rain developing this morning mixing with sleet and snow by late morning and to all snow this afternoon ending by sunset. Becoming quite windy with gusts to 40 mph. Temperatures in the mid 40s this morning will fall to the low 20s by sunset. A winter weather advisory and wind advisory is in effect!

TONIGHT – Clearing, windy and cold, low around 20, wind gusts to 40 mph.

SUNDAY – MAR 13 – Mostly sunny and cold with slowly diminishing winds, highs only in the mid 30s.

MONDAY – MAR 14 – Mostly sunny and milder, high in the mid 50s.

High pressure moving slowly off the coast will give us a sunny and mild day today with light winds.

A rather strong storm system will affect our area on Saturday with rain beginning before daybreak and as colder air filters in behind the storm will likely change the precipitation to snow and sleet before ending around sunset. Rainfall amounts of 1 inch is expected with snowfall amounts of around an inch but more across the higher elevations to our north and west where a few inches may accumulate. Wind gusts to 35 mph expected in the afternoon and near 40 mph at night.

Sunday will be a dry but windy and chilly day as the low moves to off the Nova Scotia coast, wind gusts to 30 mph with highs only in the upper 30s.

Dry and mild weather is expected then much of next week with high temperatures each day in the 50s with some 60s especially toward the end of the week.

Weak high pressure in our area will give us mostly sunny skies today which will help melt much of the snowfall from yesterday. It will be milder with highs near 50 and with light winds it will be a pleasant March day.

Friday will be dry and continued seasonably mild with some increasing cloudiness by evening.

A very strong storm will be with us on Saturday with rain developing by daybreak and becoming heavy at times. A cold front with this system will move to our east in the afternoon and some of the precipitation may end as snow Saturday evening especially to our north and west.

Sunday will be quite chilly and windy with highs only near 40.

Next week we should enjoy nice spring like weather with dry conditions and mild temperatures.

Low pressure will be moving toward us and just off the coast today. Snow should begin around daybreak and mix with rain at times with the precipitation ending early this evening. Snow accumulations of 1-2 inches can be expected mostly on colder surfaces, and the roads should mainly be just wet. 3-4″ are expected over the higher terrain to our north and west.

High pressure will then build into our area providing dry and seasonably mild temperatures Thursday and Friday.

A strong storm will move into our area on Saturday with rain possibly heavy at times. The precipitation may briefly change to snow before ending Saturday evening.

Sunday will be quite chilly and very windy but will be mostly sunny.

The cold shot will be brief as milder air will be with us at least through the middle of next week.

After the record breaking warmth the last two days, today will be much cooler and be around normal for this time of year. Gusty winds this morning will diminish by late morning. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny.

A storm system will move into our area on Wednesday with snow developing around daybreak and mixing with rain by late morning. Accumulations here in Clifton will be around 1 inch mostly on colder surfaces but higher amounts are possible across higher elevations to our north and west.

Quiet weather with slightly above normal temperatures Thursday and Friday.

A strong frontal system will give us rain on Saturday that may change briefly to snow before ending Saturday night.

Sunday will be a sunny but windy and cold day.
