Skies are cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and it is milder than the last few mornings with readings at 5 a.m. range from 33 in Clifton down to 25 at Sandyston. Winds are calm or light southwesterly!

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 25TH:

Today will be milder as temperatures are expected to rise to the low 40s with partly sunny skies. A cold front will cross the area this afternoon and a northwest flow of colder air will move into our area tonight.

Arctic air will be over the area tomorrow through Thursday, highs on Wednesday will be in the 20s and morning lows on Thursday will be in the single digits. Temperatures moderate a bit during the day on Thursday but still remain below normal.

Still watching for a potential coastal storm Friday afternoon through Saturday morning which will give our area a good chance of snow. Right now it looks like the storm will be too far east to give our area significant snowfall but that will probably change so stay tuned for further updates.

The storm will be followed by more cold air Sunday and Monday but our area will be dry.

Our skies are mostly cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures at 5 a.m. range from 26 in Clifton down to 16 at High Point. Winds are mainly calm.

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 36 LOW: 19 PRECIPITATION: .02″ SNOW: 0.3″

A cold front will cross the area this morning, temperatures will not rise much with highs mainly in the low 30s, however winds will be rather light.

Milder on Tuesday along with partly sunny skies, there is a slight chance of some flurries early tomorrow morning but most places will remain dry, highs will be near 40.

Cold Arctic air will be with us Wednesday into Thursday. During the day on Wednesday highs will not get out of the 20s and lows Thursday morning may drop down to the single digits.

Then we will be watching for a storm that is expected to rapidly develop offshore. The computer models have shifted a little closer to the coast which would give our area some snow, but we have several days to watch this system and determine the impacts to our area. At the present time our forecast has a low chance of some snow Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

Clearing and cold weather is expected on Sunday.

Today will be a little milder and we should have some partial sunshine. A cold front will cross the area tonight with some snow flurries possible from late this afternoon through this evening.

Mostly sunny and cold on Monday as high pressure builds into the area.

Tuesday will be the mildest day of this week, there will be a slight chance of rain and snow showers as another cold front approaches our area.

Arctic air will be with us Wednesday into Thursday with highs only in the 20s. Early morning lows Thursday morning may only be in the single digits.

A little milder on Friday with mostly cloudy skies.

A strong coastal storm is expected to develop on Saturday and move off the coast, at this time most computer models have the storm to far out to sea to give us any snow but this system will be watched for possible changes in the track and intensity.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and it is quite cold with temperatures at 5 a.m. ranging from 10 in Clifton down to -5 at Sandyston. Winds are from the north-northeast around 5-10 mph.

Arctic high pressure over New England will be moving offshore and we will have sunny skies today, high temperatures will be around 5 degrees higher than yesterday and with lighter winds it will not feel as frigid as yesterday.

Sunday will be a partly sunny day with slightly milder temperatures but high temperatures will still be below normal. A cold front will move through the area at night.

Monday will be sunny but quite cold once again with highs struggling to reach 30 degrees.

Milder on Tuesday but a cold front will give us a chance of light rain and snow in the afternoon and evening.

Much colder again Wednesday through Friday but we should remain dry.

Another possible snowstorm for next Saturday with the GFS computer model has a healthy snowstorm for our area while the European model has the storm well out to sea.

January 21st marks the middle point of the winter as today has the lowest average temperature of the year. We will again be very cold today as Arctic high pressure builds over the area. Skies will be partly sunny with highs only in the 20s and with gusts to 20 mph will make it feel even colder.

The weekend will start off very cold as lows tomorrow morning will fall to the single digits but with sunshine during the day and high temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than today with less wind. Sunday will again be dry with again slightly milder temperatures but still remain below normal.

Another cold day on Monday despite plenty of sunshine with highs staying below freezing.

Tuesday will be the mildest day of this upcoming week with highs near 40 but a cold front may cause some snow or rain showers in the afternoon and night.

Following the cold front, Arctic air will again move into the area and it will be very cold Wednesday through Friday, but we should stay dry.

There are indications at this time that February will average above normal as most of the colder weather will stay across the western part of the country.
