High pressure will continue to dominate our weather through Labor Day with plenty of sunshine both days, warm temperatures and continued low humidity with dew points mainly in the 50s.

Dry weather Tuesday and Wednesday but it will become more humid as a southerly flow develops, temperatures will continue to be seasonably warm.

A slow moving cold front will approach our area and give us a chance of showers Thursday into the beginning of next weekend. A tropical air mass will be in place with dew points approaching 70.

High pressure well off the New England coast and a warm front approaching from the south and west will cause cloudy skies most of the day with some occasional showers. Despite the clouds temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday. It will be humid with dew points near 70.

Quite warm and humid on Thursday and we may see some thunderstorms in the evening as a cold front approaches the area.

Still warm on Friday but becoming much less humid by the afternoon.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR AUGUST 2020

Average temperature was 76.9 degrees which was 3.2 degrees above normal. Highest temperature 96 – 10th Lowest temperature 58 – 20th. Precipitation was a little above normal with 5.09″ The most significant weather of the month was Hurricane Isaias on the 4th which had 55 mph wind gusts causing considerable tree damage along with power outages.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR THE SUMMER MONTHS:

Here it was the warmest summer since I started records in 1973 with an average temperature of 76.8 degrees. Precipitation was a little above normal with 15.77″ falling. Central Park tied for their 4th warmest summer, record going back to 1869. Newark airport was their 7th warmest summer, those records go back to 1931.
