Skies are mostly clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures are much colder than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 19 in Clifton down to 9 at High Point. Winds are mainly from the northwest averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 25.

Today will be cold with increasing cloudiness, snow should begin around 5 p.m. and become heavy at times tonight with the possibility of 1-2 inches of snow per hour. The snow may mix with sleet before ending Saturday morning. Snow accumulations will be between 4-8 inches with higher amounts possible, depending where the heaviest snow bands occur.

The rest of Saturday will remain mostly cloudy but cold.

Another frontal system is expected to affect our area Sunday afternoon through Monday but with milder temperatures; most if not all of the precipitation will be in the form of rain.

Much colder on Tuesday as Arctic high pressure moves into our area. Also it will be windy with some gusts to 40 mph that will make it feel colder.

The rest of next week looks to be dry with continued below normal temperatures.

Today will be mild with mostly cloudy skies but a cold front will come through dry this afternoon. The front will be followed by a brisk northwest flow of colder air tonight.

Friday will be cold as high pressure will be to our north. A low pressure system will then approach our area with snow likely in the afternoon becoming heavy at times Friday night. There are some computer models having the snow change to sleet before ending on Saturday. Snowfall amounts will be between 4-8 inches.

Sunday and Monday will be milder but another storm system will give us rain Sunday afternoon through Monday.

Much colder and windy but dry Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure builds from the northwest.

Today will be a sunny day but windy ahead of a cold front that will come through dry this evening. Temperatures will be near normal with highs in the low 40s.

A storm system will give us snow Friday afternoon through Saturday morning. Possible accumulations of 3-6 inches.

Another frontal system will give us rain mainly Sunday afternoon through the evening with still a chance of rain on Monday followed by much colder weather for Tuesday.

A weak disturbance along a warm front will cause some light snow this morning accumulating to 1-2 inches in the Clifton area with 2-4″ further inland. Winds will be light.

Wednesday will be a mild day but windy as the pressure gradient increases from a low off the Canadian Maritimes and high pressure build from the west. Skies will be mostly sunny and winds will gust to 35 mph at times.

Christmas Day looks to be dry with mostly cloudy skies.

Very unsettled weather for Friday through the weekend as a series of low pressure systems that will affect the area. The best chance of accumulating snow looks to be Friday night into Saturday morning. Still a chance of rain showers on Sunday followed by dry but colder weather for early next week.

High pressure over our area today will give us a mostly sunny and seasonably cool day today with much less wind than yesterday.

A warm front approaching from the west will give us light snow on Tuesday starting around dawn then may change to rain before ending Tuesday afternoon. Snowfall amounts will be light with about an inch in the Clifton area with a little higher amounts further inland.

High pressure returns for Wednesday giving us mostly sunny skies but it will be breezy. Highs will be in the 40s.

Christmas Day looks to be mostly cloudy with only a slight chance (20%) of a light rain shower.

Very unsettled weather for Friday into the weekend. The forecast from yesterday had Friday mild in the 50s but now some of the models have colder air moving into the area from the north and low pressure to our south that may cause some significant winter weather in our area. During the weekend a couple of low pressure systems may effect our area giving us chances of precipitation both days but at this time it should be in the form of rain.
