Bright sunshine with slightly milder temperatures today with much less wind! A chance of light precipitation and milder on Friday!


THURSDAY  MARCH 23, 2017   5:55 A.M.

Mostly clear skies early this morning and temperatures are quite cold with readings ranging from around 20 in the Clifton area to around 10 in some inland areas, some record lows have been recorded, winds are quite light.

A strong Arctic high pressure will build over the area today providing plenty of sunshine, temperatures in the afternoon will be slightly milder than yesterday and with much less wind it will not feel as harsh.

A warm front will be approaching on Friday giving us a chance of light rain during the day with possibly a wintery mix especially inland in the morning, temperatures will rise to near normal by the afternoon.

Saturday we will be in the warm sector and tempertures will rise into the low 60s but as a backdoor cold front approaches from the north that may touch off some showers in the afternoon and at night.

Cooler and unsettled conditions Sunday through at least Tuesday with considerable cloudiness and periods of rain likely, the best likelihood of rain will be from Sunday night into Monday morning.

Much colder and very windy today with some record low temperatures tonight! Less wind and slightly milder during the day on Thursday!


WEDNESDAY MARCH 22, 2017  5:50 A.M.

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures have fallen to the upper 30s in the Clifton area to the low 30s further inland, winds are gusty out of the northwest.

A cold front came through early this morning and Arctic high pressure will be building into the area, temperatures that are in the upper 30s this morning will drop below freezing by late this afternoon and with winds gusting to 45 mph it will feel rather uncomfortable, a wind advisory is in effect.

The center of the Arctic air will be over us on Thursday, it will start off very cold with temperatures well down into the teens, during the day the temperatures will be a little milder and with diminishing winds it will not feel as harsh as today.

Milder on Friday as a warm front approaches the area, there is a chance of some light rain with the front.

Saturday will be quite mild but a backdoor cold front will sag south of our area by Saturday night with a chance of showers.

Unsettled and cool weather Sunday through early next week, an onshore flow of cooler air will be with us and waves of low pressure will cause periods of rain through the period with the heaviest rain expected Sunday night through Monday morning.

TUESDAY  MARCH 21, 2017  5:55 A.M.

We have cloudy conditions early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are milder than the last several mornings with readings ranging from the low 40s in the Clifton area to the mid 30s further inland, winds are mainly calm.

A weak cold front will cause overcast conditions early this morning but we should see sunshine by noontime, temperatures will rise well up into the 50s.

A stronger cold front will come through dry late tonight followed by a strong Arctic high pressure moving into the area on Wednesday, temperatures will fall to around freezing early in the morning and not rise much during the day and along with wind gusts to 35 mph will drop windchills well down into the teens.

Winds diminish late Wednesday night and with clear skies early Thursday morning will cause temperatures to drop to the teens with some record lows possible.  Not as cold or windy during the day on Thursday along with mostly sunny skies.

A warm front will approach the area on Friday and temperatures will rise to near normal.

Quite mild on Saturday ahead of a backdoor cold front that will move south of us at night accompanied by some showers.

Unsettled weather Sunday and Monday with rain likely both days, temperatures will be cooler.

MONDAY  MARCH 20, 2017  5:44 A.M.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in the Clifton area to the low 20s further inland, there is a light northwest wind.

Spring begins at 6:29 a.m. this morning and it will be a rather nice day with seasonably mild temperatures as high pressure builds into the area.

There is a chance of an early morning shower on Tuesday followed by sunshine by the afternoon, temperatures will be mild ahead of a strong cold front that will come through at night.

A brief surge of unseasonably cold conditions Wednesday and Thursday as high pressure builds from Canada, Wednesday will be windy with diminishing winds for Thursday.

A warm front approaches from the southwest on Friday, there is a slight chance of a shower at night.

Quite mild on Saturday but a front will sag south of the area at night with a good chance of rain from Saturday night into Sunday.

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Sunday morning and temperatures range from the mid 30s in the Clifton area to the upper 20s further inland, winds are from the north averaging around 10 mph.

We will have mostly sunny skies today after early morning cloudiness, high temperatures will reach the low 40s which is about 10 degrees below normal.  Low pressure that gave us the light snow yesterday is moving offshore as high pressure builds in from the west.

Most of this upcoming week will be dry, temperatures will be near normal Monday and Tuesday with colder than normal temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, the next chance of precipitation will be Friday night into Saturday as a warm front crosses the area, temperatures by Saturday may rise into the 60s.   With the dry conditions and the March sun we should have a nice slow melting of the ice and snow.
